X / Y pad controller suggestions please

What do you use to control the X/Y joystick please?

My midi controllers don’t have an x/y controller and I’m pondering on buying something to make real-time use of it (only for home use)

Looking around, a few grab my attention

  1. while old, a used Novation Remote 25SL Mk2, could use that sitting in my armchair on those days I’m not well enough to use my main studio (I say studio, other end of room)

  2. Also very old, a used Korg Kaoss Pad 2 Sampler. That XY pad looks fun.

  3. Korg Nanopad 2

  4. used Korg Pad Control

  5. used Korg Nano Key Studio

I wondered what you use as a controller please?

While it looks fun, the Korg Kaoss Pad 2 Sampler only has 5 pin din midi, I need USB so that’s out

I would be careful with option 1, as I believe the Novation 25SL Mk2 used Automap software to map controls to software which is now unsupported.
I have a Novation Impulse 25 which used the same, and while you can change it to use midi, I had lots of issues it it interfacing with VSTs in Cubase.

As for you question on X/Y controllers, I am fortunate enough to have an old Technics SX-WSA1 synth keyboard hooked up via 5 pin midi port. This has 2 X/Y controllers on it one strungloaded and one not. Works great but as only 700 ish sold back in 1995 may be difficult to come by.
