Yamaha Basic FX Suite activation

Hi I have a problem with the basic FX suite plugins which are displaying elicenser error when I try to use them. MySteinberg seems to have no record of an activation code for the Basic FX Suite. How do I get an activation code and set up the elicenser to use these plugins? I have run the Reactivate procedure from MySteinberg account.

Open the eLicenser Control Center and use the activation code included with the ESSENTIAL PRODUCT LICENSE INFORMATION card. Look inside your product’s box.

Hi! I bought UR 242 about 3 years ago. I also have a problem with the basic FX suite plugins which are displaying elicenser error. I moved house last year and I couldn’t find the LICENSE INFORMATION card. I just have the box. Is there another solution to use the rev-x and others? Thanks.

Bump, same. Rev x is brilliant, annoyed that ive lost it!

I’ve got the same problem…how to re-activate my FX Suite without the code which is long gone…anyone made any progress on this… ?/

Bump. Same problem. Steinberg support doesn’t respond. They might be closed during the pandemic. Bought my UR44 in 2014. I’m using a different computer and operating system now, and have upgraded Cubase. I’d really appreciate if anyone could post how the problem got solved.

Any response? I am facing the same issues. Thank you.

I’m having this issue in 2026! Was it ever resolved?

Check vouchers area of your account - This is what you’re looking for

Nope. Nothing there. But thanks for the suggestion.

I’m guessing this FX suite came with the TOOLS driver package for my UR44c. I do still have the box for that so maybe I was supposed to activate them or something. I’m sure they used to work, but I’ve since reinstalled everything…

If you had them working before then it ought to be registered in your account…is it shown anywhere in there?

If not you’ll need to contact Steinberg with the original activation code and they will likely provide you the voucher.

No, can’t see them anywhere. Though I said I ā€˜had them working’, I can’t ever remember using them, but they get installed automatically I think with the UR44c driver package. I guess the difference is now that I’m being bugged about them by Steinberg Activation Manager. Perhaps I didn’t have that installed previously.

I’ll dig out the box for the UR44c later, hopefully there’s an activation code in there. Is that how it works? - software provided for free via the driver download, but for people who have purchased Yamaha hardware only so needs to be activated via a code with your hardware. I’m guessing that’s how it works. If I didn’t have Steinberg Activation Manager installed previously then I wouldn’t have been bugged about it, I suppose if I’d have tried to open one of the plugins it would have asked me to activate it via a code or something.

I’m guessing the system was changed at some point to SAM, so no idea if it’s going to work even if I find a code…

This works only if you haven’t used that code before. If you did use the activation code once it is no longer valid, these codes are one time codes.

Did you login to your mySteinberg profile and check if the BasicFX Suite has been registered there. Click on Products and look for an entry like this

You should have the entry that has the ā€œeLicenserā€ at the end, because the BasicFX Suite was licensed via this old licensing system.

Since the 1.April 2025 the eLicenser based software is no longer maintained by Steinberg, it has been taken over by Yamaha. However the latest release is still downloadable here.

This package supports the new Steinberg Licensing, which is the second entry in my screenshot above.

On the download site you can find a step by step description on how to get the latest software, install and activate it.

Thanks so much for your help.

I’m optimistic about the code as it’s unlikely I would have used it previously. I’m one of those types of people that just rips open the box and throws it away (usually). I’m surprised I’ve still got the box

I’ll try that first when I’ve found it and then refer back to your post/update.

Cheers.

Well, Murphys Law has come into play yet again. The UR44c box that has sat on the shelf in my music room for years has now disappeared the moment I need it. I must have taken it to the dump after Christmas.

Looks like I’ve taken the useless user manual out to save though, which confirms that there would have been a card with the license in the box.

So hopefully I can convince Steinberg that I did actually buy a UR44c if I can find a receipt for it.

Without the device the software is of no use. If you buy a new device you will also get a new download access code.

I have the device. Just no box/documentation.

Ok, I thought you have no device anymore. In that case you need to contact support.
