Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver version V4.1.0 Mac released

I can’t include links, so go to the Yamaha website, support, downloads and filter:

Music & Audio Production > All - Interfaces > URX-C Series. The drivers are compatible with the UR-C series. If there’s a mod who can allow me to post links, I can just post to the driver - Or post an announcement with it stickied to this forum.

V4.1.0
Mac 1,078.9MB 9/7/2026

I randomly stumbled across this driver which was released a few days ago and I can’t see an announcement in this forum. Hope this helps. All the other beta drivers caused random dropouts which meant the device was basically useless.

update: Still experiencing dropouts. Doesn’t fix anything. Yamaha really needs to fix this as the hardware is useless on modern macs.

To get it to install on a mac, you need to shut down your computer, turn it on in recovery mode and allow kernal extensions:

Shut down your Mac.

  1. Press and hold the power button until you see “Loading startup options”.
  2. Click Options > Continue, then select your administrator account and enter the password.
  3. From the top menu bar, open Utilities > Startup Security Utility.
  4. Select your drive, click Security Policy, and change the setting to Reduced Security.
  5. Check the box for “Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers”, click OK

Let me try

P.S.

Installation without any issues. UR44C, M4, 26.5.2

Thanks for posting the link. I switched the driver over to USB 2.0 and think that may have solved the issue with the dropouts!

It’s only been a day, so fingers crossed.

They are still busy working on an official driver update that supports system extensions (DriverKit, Driver Extension) as recommended by Apple.
My personal assumption is that it will be ready and available with the macOS 27 release later this year, but I do not have any details yet.

My main issue was audio dropouts. Can’t believe that it was fixed by just switching to usb 2.0.

Maybe the developers could make the user aware if the usb connection at 3.0 isn’t solid so that the user can drop down to usb 2.0. Either way, I’m happy it’s working now.
