YEP another Cubase disapointment: DOP

@Johnny_Moneto and other will be amused to read that there is yet more grief…pretty sure its a bug so Ill have to report
I use DOP a lot. I record live music in a studio so HP filters are reallly important to actually get stuff cleaned up e bleed…not just for the sake of “HP everything”

SO

I (think I) discovered today that using linear phase eq for HP in DOP (which is by far the easiest way to bake stuff in that isnt part of the flow) actually seems to get turned off.

At first I thought it was Ozone eq so I used Frequency in lin mode
I applied DOP but when I looked at the waveform I could not see any prering??
So I instead did Render In Place and it did look correct

Firstly could anyone confirm that by using a Dirac file and check for pre/post ring?
I have 3 secs pre and post roll
Ozone was so bad it actually nulled the file at 30hz

Cheers and thanks

  1. Get a dirac file with at least 1 sec pre/post roll in case its a windowing issue
  2. Open in DOP and apply eg a linear phase eq of any sort, try a low pass first and check if there are pre/post ring ripples
  3. Now do the same but with an insert of the same plug in Render in place
  4. Open both in editor with overlap waveforms on

Does no one else do this? Its just old school tape type of idea…bake stuff so options paralysis and insert fix are cleaned up

Could anyone test this so I can do bug report please?

Thanks

What do you mean by that? It doesn’t cut the low frequencies?

DOP cannot magically disable a filter, LP or not, in a plugin, especially not in a third party one where it simply doesn’t know what is used and which parameter is the LP filter or filter mode.

I cannot reproduce it either. I used Frequency with a LP Low Cut on a 100Hz Sine wave, and it attenuated the sine wave. I also tried a dirac pulse and I got pre and post ringing, as opposed to only post ringing with MP.

Thanks for your reply and time

I dont use Cubase plugins anymore (last 2 decades) for reasons I have explained elsewhere (nor Ableton when Im using that)…so its centred around 3rd party only.

Either way I still get the same result with freq?
