Yet another plugin

Hi everyone, I found one more way to improve my workflow :slightly_smiling_face:
It uses Macro Deck, another free alternative to Stream Deck, together with an extension that can run pre-recorded macros and commands in Dorico - no shortcuts to create or remember.
It’s free and fairly simple and it works well for me(I’m not a power Dorico user), so I thought it might also be useful to a few people here. It is not as polished as the commercial options, and it is not intended to replace any existing tools—just another attempt to make note input a little easier for non-professional users.

There is a short video showing how it works, in case anyone is interested.

P.S. The extension is still in beta and is currently available only as a manual install. I’ll publish it in the extension store if there’s enough interest.

Thank you for sharing ! Glad to see the community developing their own plug-in and sharing for free their creation.

What extension store? For what?

The Macro Deck extension store. It would still be free, but no manual installation required—one less step and more confidence for users.

Fun time: watch the extension replace dynamics in Dorico. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I doubt anyone would actually use it, but it’s still fun to watch:

The full list of available actions is here

Hi! New action added to the plugin.
The Insert Lyrics action lets you prepare lyrics from your clipboard and insert them directly into Dorico. It can automatically split words into syllables and paste the lyrics at the current selection, so there’s no need to enter each syllable one by one.
You can also use tokens like “(Verse N)” or “(Chorus)” to assign lyrics to a specific line.

These extra actions are designed to make a few common tasks a little quicker and easier:

Respell Note — Simple Enharmonic respelling. Thanks to asherber (Post).
Create Pickup Measure — Thanks to Christian_R (Post).
Custom Rehearsal Marks — Thanks to johnkprice (Post).

Enable any of them from the plugin configuration page.

Great tool. For example the lyric pasting feature in DoriDeck sure looks very useful.

How does it handle syllabification under the hood, and does it support languages other than English?

I truly hope you’ll have the strength and inspiration to keep developing this and pushing the possibilities forward!

Thanks for your great work.

Hi, thank you so much for your support!

DoriDeck currently supports syllabification for English, Latin, and Russian. English syllabification uses a predefined dictionary stored as a simple text file, so it can easily be edited or expanded by anyone.

If you need support for another language, just let me know—I’d be happy to look into it)

Fantastic, thank you. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks again, Artem.

On my Windows 10 PC, the dictionary text file is:

C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Macro Deck\plugins\Sarti2004.DoriDeck\mhyph.txt

So easy and comfortable solution for a user. If something is not there, just add it (hyphenated the way the huge amount of existing entries are). :slightly_smiling_face:

Amazing that you made the thing work like this. :+1: I’m looking forward to seeing what you might add next.

Thank you, Tapio!
Basic Finnish and German syllabification was added in version 0.1.2 (although not really tested  ). User dictionaries for these languages will be included in the next release.

Thanks, Artem. :finland: :germany:
