Can anyone confirm if the Zoom L20r app is required to make a connection?

You just need the asio driver for it to be recognised in Cubase as an audio interface.

If Cubasis: no ASIO driver required! There are no such things on iOS/iPadOS.

My fault. I mistook it for Cubase. The zoom L series do work in cc mode though. I have an L20 (not R version) and it will work in CC mode. If you look at the manual you have a switch for class compliant mode.
