4.3 update broke playing through headphones/internal speakers [Windows only]

Hi @msonic and everyone else here in this thread.

I talked about a new generic ASIO driver that is in the making which will use Windows Audio Session API (aka WASAPI). It’s not in the Dorico installer, yet, but I uploaded it here so you can download and try it out.
It looks similar like the old one, but does not have the option for ‘Allow exclusive access’ any more.
What is cool though, it has automatic sample rate conversion. So e.g. if Dorico is set to 48kHz but Windows to 44.1kHz then the driver automatically converts from 48 to 44.1kHz on the fly. Needless to say that this will cost extra CPU cycles, but that is like so often in life, for convenience you pay with performance loss. Anyway, the new driver will get installed in parallel to the old driver and turns up in the driver list as ‘Steinberg built-in ASIO Driver’.

I’m using the suggestions in this post in January 2024, with version 7 of HALion Sonic, but I would like to thank the author because it worked for me and I got the stereo audio that I couldn’t get before.
