I don’t agree with this. I find it much better to enter a word or phrase and then be able to quickly find every occurrence of that word or phrase throughout the .pdf manual, easily skipping back and forth between each entry.
Very often, what I am looking for is not mentioned in the Index, so then what? - turn every page of the manual to find it?!
To each his own, to be sure…and perhaps my preference for the bound volume has something to do with my advanced age.
I don’t think, however, for those of us that prefer at certain times to have a real book in our hands instead of having to deal with another device or screen, that having a third party manual published as one-offs for sale would be a problem for either Steinberg or the environment.
As mentioned above, the Sony Vegas Pro manual was a painless purchase, and I am sure caused Sony no headaches. Easy fix all around in this day of ordering one-offs for custom or vanity publishing…Sony directs you to a site for something called Café Publishing. Before I invest in a ream of paper and a cartridge for my printer, I would love to have the purchased volume option.
