Accordion Registration notation

My primary instrument is Accordion, and I am trying to use accordion register notation, standard on ALL accordion sheet music. However I cannot find it anywhere in Dorico. Am I missing something, or is Dorico lacking on that front?

They look like a small circle with a couple lines across, and some dots in the lines.

Thanks for your suggestion. I’m having a lot of trouble with the documentation. Things don’t seem to be very well described. For example, the documentation refers to “Playing Techniques” and the application calls it “Playback Techniques.”

I am trying to follow the documentation, but after adding a new Playback technique, I don’t see a “general” tab as described in the docs:

  1. On the General tab, select one of the following options from the Type menu:
  • Glyph
  • Text

Playing Techniques = Things that you write on a Score
Playback Techniques = Things that are used to trigger particular sounds (during playback)

For your Accordian glyphs you need to create custom Playing Techniques (@rafaelv linked you to the documentation)

If you download the Dorico file that rmatosinhos has uploaded in the thread I have linked, open it and then open the playing techniques panel, under the Keyboard category you will see that he already created many (maybe all) of the playing techniques for the accordion. You could then save them as default or import them to other projects using the library manager.

Thanks for clarifying. When I open the menu “Library” I don’t see an option for “Playing techniques.”

Which version of Dorico are you using?

I’m on Version 5.1.20.2093 (Feb 15 2024)

Sorry, I meant, Pro/Elements/SE

Thanks, this seemed to work. I’m still struggling a bit to figure out how the online documentation relates to the program, but for the time being I have the register symbols!

Ah, it says elements. Is that my problem?

Yes. It looks like custom playing techniques are a Pro only feature.

ok, thanks for helping me figure that out.

There are many of these symbols available to enter as text.
