Audio Engine Timeout, Dorico won't start

Hi @Elijah_Baker , so now you don’t have any issue any more, right?

And see, that thing with killing off any VST process is not really the solution, but just a workaround, that’s why I asked you. See what I mean?

I never said it was “the solution.” I am fully aware it was a workaround. I’m not sure what comment thread you’re reading. But I will reiterate…I don’t have the skill set to sit and diagnose WHY there is a problem. That is Steinberg’s job…not mine.

I can’t explain to you WHY the update fixed the issue. I can’t explain WHY shutting off the VST in the task manager got Dorico to boot up properly. I can’t diagnose those types of technical issues and Steinberg does not give me the resources to do so either…that is why I needed any kind of fix or “workaround” so I could continue using Dorico for school.

You have demonstrated that you’re missing the simple logic of what I’m saying.

I would say thanks for your time, but you have offered zero help.

Hi @Elijah_Baker , I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.

The advice given in this thread is just a general workaround (which works in a variety of cases) but not the solution. But your posting gave me the impression that you took it as the solution. That’s why I just wanted to reconfirm and make you aware that an update of the software might be the real solution for you. And as it turned out to be, the update was the real solution for you.

See, I have the skills and know why things go wrong in our software. I could explain it all, but don’t want to. I just want to point you to the right solution of a problem and not just to a workaround. I’ m sorry if my intention was not understood.
