I have been using the Audio Part editor to try and do some work here. On the tool bar is the tool selector component. Instead of having the full range of tools available as in the project window, there is a cut down version which comprises Range Selector, Draw, Zoom and Warp.
I’ve examined the Manual and it describes all the tools you’d expect, under the Audio Part Editor section, so I am expecting to be able to use them. I’ve right clicked and prodded and poked but I can’t find a way of adding the tools I want to see. I have examined every part of project preferences, but there seems to be no functionality there.
Has any one else come across this problem, and is there a way to address it.
Thanks in advance.
Try to press the corresponding numbers of the tools, e.g. 5 for the eraser tool. You will see all individual numbers if you hover over each single tool in the project window´s toolbar.
And maybe your audio editor´s tool bar is simply too packed to display all tools? Have you tried to deselect some items by rightclicking anywhere in the editor´s tool bar and unckeck them?
It could be a preferences issue. Not the ones in the dialog but ones in the folder on your hard drive.
Generally the tools are there:
Are you familiar with how to temporarily use factory settings for Cubase instead your user made settings?
Hi Johnny. I’m not familiar with the factory settings. There is no information about this in the manual so any thing you can tell me to unlock this would be great.
Thanks
Hi Reco. Tried all those things. I know the solution will be simple once I know what it is. Thanks.
Here is a link to somebody describing it.
But instead of just looking for some files in the Cubase folder, rename the Cubase 14_64
folder itself, e.g. to _Cubase 14_64
.
!!! Close Cubase before doing this !!!
Renaming the folder allows you to revert the switch in case the tools are not coming back this way.
Could it be that you’re in the sample editor and not in the audio part editor? Your descibtion of the tools indicates that. If so select the event in the project window, go to menu/audio/events to part in the dropdown window, and then click the part to open it in the part editor. All the tools should be there.
Jon
I’m definitely in the audio part editor.
I have done all that but it has made no difference. I’ll keep looking for a solution, thanks
Just to make sure. This is not the audio part editor but the sample editor:
Can you post a screenshot of your editor?
Can you describe your actions on what you did to open the AudioPartEditor, so maybe we can find out what went wrong? The tools are all here at my comp!
Jon
Hi there Jon,
I feel like a fool as I’ve been making assumptions all along. When I double click on an audio track I assumed that it would take me to the audio part editor, but instead I get the sample editor. Having to go to the Audio menu and select Events to Parts, then double click on the audio seems to be counter intuitive. When I tried it the first time at your suggestion I must have missed something as it went straight to sample editor hence my confusion.
Any way thanks for hanging in there with me, and pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks for persevering with me on this. However I have resolved my problem, thanks to yourself and Buer.
And, by the way, learned something about Cubase I wouldn’t otherwise have known.
Thanks
Glad to hear it was just a mixup and that you figured it out.
I try a small explanation about events and parts.
A part is a container that can house one or several audio events on the same track. You can thus combine several events that you wish to move or copy together. And since you cannot extend the length of an event beyond the underlying audio file you can put it into a part. The part’s boundaries can then be easily extended.
Thanks a lot. Now that I understand how it works it makes better sense.
Regards
Allen
Glad you fixed it!
Btw:
To know differences between ‘events’, ‘parts’, ‘clips’ and ‘files’ in Cubase is somewhat essencial; like in this thread.
