Breath Mark not appearing on tied note, across the bar line, across a page break

I ran into an issue with. a breath mark that doesn’t appear. I see an issue that was reported in 2019. I have a video that shows the issue and willing to share the file if needed.

I can imagine what you’re talking about but the extra attachments would be helpful.

How are you actually inputting the breath?

Of course a breath mark cannot coexist at the same grid mark as a fermata or the like.

Yes, that was my first thought: that the rhythmic position might not be correct.

It won’t let me upload a video… but here is the screen grab.

I am clicking on the tied note ( 1 half note across the bar, is 2 quarter notes tied), I open the holds and pauses panel, select breath mark, the note deselects, and nothing happens.

There is no fermata, there is no system hold. Other instruments might have a breath mark.

I could get a breath mark both before the tied note, and after:

  • Change your rhythmic grid to quavers
  • Activate note input and place the caret on the quaver before the tied note (or beat 1 of the next bar)
  • Shift+H
  • “,” and Enter

Yes! And especially at the entry of a note. @Robby_Poole this is what happens if you select the note and try to create a breath mark, rather than placing it before or after the note.

This is actually a very old issue, on the list to fix since 1.0.

You can move the attachment of the breath mark to the first beat on the new page; it doesn’t have to be between the notes.
