C15 Colour of controller lane data in Key editor does not adapt to editor background

Hi all,

Not sure if I’m missing a new preference or this is a bug, but like many I prefer the key editor background to be white, rather than than the deep black void of the default setting.

In previous versions, the controller data and curves automatically changes colour to from white to black when going past some threshold. This is no longer happening, so the controller data is white on a white background. Is there a pref I’ve missed or is this a bug? It’s now almost impossible to see and giving me eye strain after a few minutes.

This issue is absolutely terrifying—it’s literally killing my eyes. I’m really worried that Steinberg won’t acknowledge it as a bug and instead call it an “upgrade.” What do you mean it’ll be fixed in a future update? This problem alone has already forced me to switch back to Cubase 14! If this happened with a car, it would warrant a massive recall!

I’ve been waiting for several days, but there’s still no software update to fix this issue, and nobody on the forums is discussing it either. It seems like only a handful of people worldwide are affected by this problem. When is your next update scheduled—weeks from now, or months? I guess I’ll have to break my bad habit of paying directly without trying first during the next update. For now, I’m forced to roll back to version 14 to get my work done. This bug is already seriously affecting my eyesight.

They told me in version 15.0.5 that they had logged this issue and would fix it in the next update. Today, version 15.0.6 was released—yet the problem remains. I initially thought it might be due to having multiple versions of Cubase coexisting on my computer, but after checking the release notes, I found no mention of this issue at all—neither in the list of resolved items nor in the known issues.

I’m really disappointed. Extremely, deeply disappointed.

Cubase 15.0.10 Maintenance Update has been released. This issue has been fixed.
