I just found that after the 5.1.80.2224 update, I cannot mute tracks in Dorico mixer as before. I tried to mute the track where the NP sound came from but it won’t mute the sound. the mute button became yellow/activated yet the sound still was playing. And I found that the master output cannot be muted as well. Originally I thought it might be the problem only with NP but later also found that with default play template, the mute buttons failed to work as it should too!
Anyone found this issue as well? Or it is just me?
Yes, it is the same. As Daniel said in that other thread:
“Unfortunately, it looks as though the mute buttons in the Mixer are non-functional in Dorico 5.1.80. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. We will have a fix for this as soon as we can.”
Ah! Sorry that I have not noticed the tread. OK it’s a recognized issue then I’ll wait for the update patiently. But just found another issue not sure if related. It seems that after the update, the playback would somehow stutter frequently. My computer is a new and fast Ryzen AI 370 system with 64gb ram. The projects I tested used to play butterly smooth on this computer. They are using only NP native sound, no any heavy sample libraries and only small ensembles like quartets or even just voice and piano. Anyone experiencing similar problems?
I just tried to switch back to the old Generic Low Latency driver, and the playback somehow became smooth for one time. The I changed to the Steinberg built-in ASIO driver again, it stuttered. I then switch back to the old Generic Low Latency Driver, it stuttered as well. I restarted the computer and again both driver stutters. So overall now I cannot playback smoothly on either old or new drivers.
And I found that if I open the task manager to monitor the activity, it would stutter severely. If I close the task manager, it seems much better. But it used to be fine to open the task manager in this scenario. Just for your reference.
We have published a Dorico 5.1.81 update that fixes the mute buttons in the Mixer: please run Steinberg Download Assistant to download and install the update.
Hi @Kyle_Mattingly , something must have gone wrong with the routing and assignment, because although you get sound out, in the channels no VU metering can be seen except for the reverb effects channel. So what if you choose from the menu Play > Playback Template and apply again the default template? Does that fixes it for you?
