Cant add device CC121 - Macbook M3, Sonoma OSX (Cubase pro 14.0.5)

I have issue on a M3 Macbook pro running Sonoma 14

running *Cubase 14.0.5 Rosetta
installed TOOLS for CC121 V 180pkg
CC121 Firmware updated V150-2
Last Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver
No USB hub direct connection to PC.
“Cubase ready” button on the device is blinking
Cubase sees it in the devices list, but when I try to add it, it does not get added.
The device worked perfectly on my previous computer, Mac M2 (Sonoma) so Im pretty sure that it needs an update.
Steinberg team, any help?
Thanks!

I see that you have the CC121 Input Port In ‘All MIDI’ checked. Tried unchecking this before selecting the CC121 from the Devices List?

Hi, thanks for the suggestion, but the issue remains the same. I have my old MacBook M2, and it’s working without problems. On the new Mac M3 I can’t add the CC121. I feel like I’ve tried everything, and I really miss this little device.

Ah, then in this case you’re absolutely right, it must need an update by Steinberg. Other than that, in the mean time, perhaps you might want to try using it as a MIDI Remote instead, I’ve seen a script for it here:

Not sure how much it complies with the original functionality of this device, but you never know…

Thank you!

This script gives some functionality on top of the existing thing. It doesn’t mimic the full CC121 as a MR Script.

Yes, I did see the code. My answer was rather for the OP, precisely not to have the expectation of an MR clone of the original functionality.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using my CC121 on an M3 16" MacBook Pro/Sonoma for the better part of a year and have not had any problems with it.

I know that’s not much in the way of solutions, but it does help to obviate the “needs an update” aspect. Nothing against updates, but still…

One difference between the OP’s setup and mine is that I’m NOT running under Rosetta. I’m sure he has his reasons, but…I wonder if that may be part of the issue.

Good luck!

How embarrassing… My coding skills rusted for 15 years.

You did a great job :+1: I only meant that I did see what you were talking about

Hi, Thank you tip.
I tried running the mode without Rosetta, but the situation is the same. I can’t add the CC121. It’s very strange – all other MIDI options can be added, but not the CC121 :frowning:

Have you tried deleting your preferences…or reinstalling? Or running Onyx?

Don’t mean to sound patronizing. In my experience the inexplicable is often corrected by doing one of the three above. Though I’d test them out in reverse order.

Onyx (by Titanium Software over in France), if you’re not aware of it, can be a real lifesaver, and it’s free.

I tried reinstalling and installing Cubase on a new user account, and I also tried installing Cubase 12. I can see the CC121 in Cubase but can’t add it. So frustrating! Thanks for Onyx, it’s a good app.

CC121 is working fine here under Sequoia on an M3 MB Air. I didn’t need any additional scripts apart from installing the 1.8.0 tools. Probably not helpful, but at least you know it should work without any additional software.
