Can't find Prologue / Mystic / Spector in Cubase 12

Jbridge will only bridge them as fx inserts and wont generate any sound because they are synths not insert plugins. I managed to bridge many many other 32 bit plugins successfully. Apparently the coding is very old for monologue and embracer so the straightforward way of using jbridge does not work for me

I’ve discovered this whole ‘VST Instruments being removed’ thing when I upgraded to 12 this afternoon. I’ve calmed down a bit now.

What I don’t understand is that the whole VST concept is to allow plug ins to be used in multiple products and to be insulated to some degree from upgrades to the host DAW your using.

The ‘technical reasons’ Steinberg cites for dropping these plugins seems odd given the glowing marketing write-ups they have previously given them. Perhaps they just don’t have the resource to continue supporting them, so why not just continue putting them out but as free unsupported downloads in the same way that Sequel now is?

The most important part of a DAW is the plug-in instruments. So to take 4 of them out and not put anything in their place that is at least as good is hardly a sensible PR exercise is it?

.

I have all the legacy vsts working in cubase 11! Woop. Including monologue and embracer. I spent many hours in recent years sampling sounds i like from monologue, when a simple trick of dragging the vstplugmanager.dl and vstbridgeapp.exe from an old version of cubase to Cubase 11. I’ll use cubase 12 once its been bug tested by the masses for 6 months

Also, i tried monologue on a busy project of mine and cubase stutters a little but as soon as i disable monologue cubase plays my project more smoothly

Thanks for all who contributed:)

Ok so I came here to see if anyone else had this issue and I find that they do. I’m was wondering where my little prolog had gone. Does anyone know of a comparable synth VST to replace it?

Just yesterday (July 11) I recorded a piece on Cubase 11 that uses Mystic. Today I upgraded to Cubase 12 and can’t continue working on that piece in 12. I will finish the piece on Cubase 11 but it’s sad to know that I won’t be able to return to the piece unless I dig out my eLicenser (which I’m happy to abandon) and run the older version.

If you search on this forum, you’ll find a thread that shows you how to copy the Mystic synth engine from your Cubase 11 installation to your Cubase 12 installation. It works like a charm.

It’s here:Mystic, Prologue and Specter not in Cubase 12 - #4 by Roger_Schumann

you need to copy the file -

from your previous version of your cubase to your cubase 12 folder
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 11\VST3\SynthEngine.vst3
COPY TO
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 12\VST3
restart cubase 12

Yes I noticed this as well. I wonder why they include it, no one seems to have answered this question yet.

Because the Loopmash content can still be found in the MediaBay and used as regular loops. Try slicing them up and mangling them with Groove Agent SE or the Sampler Track.

Thank you Roger! Success! You’ve probably saved me from hours of frustration as I was about to go hunting for ‘Spector’ on the ftp server.

Glad to help  .

Thank you for this!
In response to the presets. You can save the factory presets one by one as user-presets and they will be accessible in your newer version of Cubase or Nuendo.
DM me if you want a copy of my custom folder with all factory cloned user presets.

I just copied the whole lot from my older pc and copied to the same path like for like

I all,
If anyone is interested, I tried to copy the SynthEngine file from Cubase 11 as described above but also the FCP_SMT_008 file which is missing in Cubase 12 … and replaced the Cubase 12 FCP_SMT_009 with the Cubase 11 version. Prologue yes it sees and seems to work with its presets.

Got the upgrade to Cubase 12 with the recent offer… late to the party but I just found out all about the synths being discontinued. I copied the old files and that worked but I had to do that all over again with the recent .60 update.

Just out of ignorance, is there anyone in this forum representing Steinberg? Has anyone complained officially? Has Steinberg given any answer other than “for technical reasons these are no longer supported” ?

On occasion. Not to the point that there is an open conversation between Steinberg and their users.

This thread is probably as close to an official complaint as it gets.

Not really. Steinberg traditionally never explain their business strategies officially.

Disclaimer.
I know I wrote “Steinberg” above, but it really mostly applies to the Cubase team. In some of the other forums for other Steinberg products, developers are a lot more active.

I know, it’s an older thread, but I just realized my three beloved synths - Mystic, Prologue, Spector - are disabled in C12. But P.A.T.'s two steps worked like a charm.Remember to render your tracks to audio. You never know what is disappearing next. If you are not sure how to rescan in Media Bay, here is a screen.
