That’s exactly what I also did P.A.T.
Was about to post a solution here, then I saw your post!
Hey guys,
What is the problem? That Prologue, Mystic and Spector are no longer part of Cubase from version 12 is not in itself so dramatic. In reality, they belong to another era. They’re old, the interface is awful and adding new features to these VSTs or just re-tweaking the interface would probably take as much time and money as designing a new product.
There is no point in trying to reintroduce these products in version 12; it’s so simple to stick with version 11 and use it when you absolutely need those VSTs. Retrologue, Padshop or HALion are largely capable of responding to your creativity, if you insinuate the contrary, I could believe a lack of will.
For those who have many projects using these VSTs, what is the need to want to finish them with version 12? Cubase 11 has everything you need to finalize your projects.
To make things easier, from now on, forget those old VSTs and adapt to the new C12 version and hope that SB will offer something interesting in the near future like a free HALion library inspired by those old VSTs. It could put a balm on our disappointment…
Either way, I think it’s time to move on…
Thanks
Prologue is working now in 12
Hi P.A.T.
Thanks for this.
I’ve tried this several times on two different computers.
I can only get presets to show up for Prologue.
Any tips on how to get the presets to show up for the other three, please?
Many thanks,
Dean
Were these steps not successful?
and then
Thanks for coming back to me.
After following the above, Prologue presets were available in the media bay and VSTi, but there was nothing for Loopmash, Mystic or Spectre.
Look into Factory Content → VST3 Presets.-> Steinberg Media Technologies → LoopMash. This was unchecked in my mediabay.
Thanks Konrath - I’ve checked there, but it’s not showing up.
I suspect the issue is between the keyboard and the screen, as no one else seems to be having trouble.
I’ll uninstall C12, reinstall and try again!
First rename or rtemove the Cubase 12 user folder and start c12 again. Itwill import your c11 user folder if it is still there. Otherwise , it will create new preferences
Thanks Konrath - will do.
In the end it was down to trying to do this from an install of C8.5.
I downloaded C11 and it worked.
Thanks to P.A.T. and Konrath for your help.
Ouch! Glad you solved the riddle!
Copying the Synthengine.vst3 file isn’t working for me. Dropped it in my Cubase 12/VST3 folder where it currently sits alongside CurveEQ, LoopMash FX and VST Connect. When I boot up Cubase, no Mystic, Prologue or Spector to be found. Refreshed the plug-in manager. Nothing. Any ideas? FYI I grabbed the SynthEngine file from my 10.5 install.
Totally leftfield this, but is there any way to make Monologue work in cubase 12? It had a cheap but unique and pleasing sound, for the right occasion
They’re 32 Bit, so won’t work in C12, without some kind of wrapper, or JBridge. I’ve got them working in C8.5, alongside C12.
I’m going to try and load them in in Vienna Ensemble Pro later, and then open via that in C12. I will let you know how it goes, if it’s of any interest?
The plugins opened in C12, off of my C8.5 install, so that shouldn’t be an issue.
At the risk of teaching my Grandmother to suck eggs, are you sure they’re not in Plugin Manager, just not copied over to the list of folders and plugins on the right?
I managed to get monologue working inncubase 8.5 (32 bit version only) but not cubase 11 or 12. I havnt mamaged to get monologue working with j bridge for some reason. Monologue seems to have a different ancient sort of coding. Yes its easy to forget about the plugin manager but that isnt the problem for me but thanks for the heads up
They’re both working on 64 bit C8.5 for me - using the internal VST Bridge, which is lucky.
I never had much joy with J Bridge.
VEP didn’t recognise Embracer or Monologue - BTW.
Not appearing in Plugin Manager at all. Checked instruments, fx and blocklist. Just tried using the SynthEngine file from my Cubase 8 install for the fun of it (it’s 12 kb smaller, so at least slightly different). Nada. Also tried dropping the file into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Nada. Wondering if it’s a weird licensing thing. Switched to a new computer when I upgraded to 12, so this comp never had an earlier Cubase installed. Guess I’ll try downloading 11 on the new comp and see if that magically unlocks 12’s ability to see the SynthEngine file.
