chord symbol in parenthesis feature request

No, there’s no way to do this by default at the moment, either in Elements or in Pro. Would you mean this as “play an A major chord, or if you prefer, play an A major 7 chord”? Or something else?

Okay, thanks for confirming that, Daniel. Yes, that’s what I meant.

As from former users already suggested the new feature for optional chords I think could be improved in the score view as follows:

Optional chords which are not passing chords in between regular chords, should be placed above the replacing chord. Similar to lyrics where different rows for verse or chorus exist . In some educational jazz books one can see what I mean, see screenshot below. In this example the publisher has printed the optional chords in grey instead of parenthesis. I could imagine that also Italic would have been an option instead of parenthesis, which maybe would have been easier to program.

Regular chords would be in the first Chord Row and optional chords in the 2nd Chord Row which always is above the first chord row.

In play mode an additional track for the optional chords could be added. If someone wants to check or hear the optional chords instead of the original ones one of both chord tracks could be activated.

Besides it should exist the option to suppress playback for original chords, in case one would like to hear only in a certain passage the optional chords instead of the original ones.

Maybe it should exist the option to hide the 2nd chord row in the score view and the 2nd chord track in play mode. Or they are not shown when no optional chords are in use (2nd row is empty).

I hope I’m not asking too much or something impossible, but that’s what I’ve read from the many posts on this topic, that a 2nd chord row for the optional chords would be necessary.

No harm in asking. If it’s impossible, it probably won’t happen, but at least you asked.
