Closing a "non-group track folder" hides channels from mixer

Hi,

Collapsing a folder tracks that is just the old classic folder track now hides all the member tracks in the mixer. I wish it didn’t, or that it was optional. I would at least want to see the closed folder track (with no fader) in the mixer.

best regards,

Johannes

On the other hand I don’t want to see folder tracks or their contents anywhere near the mixer. That’s not how I use folders. So, if there’s any change it should be optional.

I also don´t like this new behaviour. I wonder if this happened by accident or by design, and what was the idea behind it.
I don’t think this new behaviour is right, because now the checkmark besides the folder icon in the track-visibility list doesn’t have any function at all, no matter if it is checked or not, the tracks stay hidden in the mixer if the folder is closed.
These are two different visual states with the same outcome, which is not logical at all (at least to me)

Just to clarify,

Does it hide the tracks in the mixer, or does it collapse them in the mixer. ie, is there a folder in the MixConsole?

I’m on C15 which doesn’t have the feature yet so I can’t test, but also asking just to clarify the issue/option-feature-request… the latter being a feature-option to “Project and MixConsole Folders Open-State Linked/Unlinked”

There could also be an option to negate folders in MixConsole, ie, there are no folders in MixConsole. There could be a preference for how both ‘Regular Folders’ and ‘Folder-Group’ show up in MixConsole.

In the case of a regular folder it hides the tracks. A folder with group function collapses (showing the group track).

What I’m asking is, because this isn’t updated in Cubase yet,

Are there now regular folders in Mixer that can be collapsed/expanded just like in project window? Or are they tracks disappearing in MixConsole with no ability to expand from MixConsole?

They just disappear!
This is what you get with 4 collapsed folders: Mixer empty!

And this is when you uncheck the visibility checkmark, same outcome for two different states of visibility tab, that doesn’t make sense to me:

In comparison N14: 2 different visibility states, 2 different outcomes:

And when they’re not hidden, they have the colors messed up. B1 track here is in an non-group track folder. See at the bottom how it has the color of the following unrelated track.

A couple of days into N15 I really wish there was a way to have all tracks visible in the mixer, even if I close folder tracks of any kind. Doing mix work on a laptop screen it would be nice to see the timeline kind of collapsed/compacted, but still have all the faders available. I might not need to be able to edit individual tracks, but still want to mix them…

And this makes even less sense for software intruments with multiple outs. I don’t need to see the individual tracks in the project (They just take up sceen real estate) But I def want to be able to mix them, otherwise why have individual outs?

best regards,

Johannes

You still can ‘un-sync’ Mix console and project.

Still the new behaviour doesn’t make sense, if synced or not.
It makes sense for the new group-folder and I think that´s why they changed it, but makes no sense for the normal folder.
This doesn’t make sense, sync is turned off:
If a normal folder has a visibility checkmark, something should be visible, no?

Doesn’t seem to have any effect on the hiding issue though?

My answer is a workaround to be able to hide folders in the project windows but still see it in the mixer… I agree this is nonsense behavior having the check mark to do this.

i have been waiting for a long time, that closing folder hides tracks in the mixer - but i can understand, that some do not like it - so it would be great to have a preference option for both options…

I use the check mark to hide tracks in the project window or mixer and I collapse the folders to navigate easily with a large set of tracks in the visibility window. Now I cannot collapse folders in visibility window because i hide it in the mixer.

100% agree.

At least it should be optional behavior to not show it.

that´s exactly the problem with this new behaviour!

It should imo be a seprate MixConsole Setting for each MixConsole, that would be the best/most flexible setup

Sync Project and MixConsole
Sync Folder Open/Close State

Sync Project and MixConsole2
Sync Folder Open/Close State

Sync Project and MixConsole3
Sync Folder Open/Close State

Sync Project and MixConsole4
Sync Folder Open/Close State

Would love to see ‘Track Visibility Lock’ per mix console as well… That has long been asked for.
