A small collection of songs from 2016.
THESE ARE LOUD!
I’d just bought a vocal sample pack and fell in love with the voice.
These are the rock-style songs using those samples. A lot of the samples are used in various songs.
GrooveAgent One, HALion for basses and pads, Shreddage for most of the guitars, synth leads are Korg MonoPoly and OPX.
IMO trks 4 and 5 are the better ones.
About trks 4 and 5…
Both these tracks feature an actual guitar solo, me playing my Les Paul DI’d into my PC.
Also, by this time, I had sampled an octave of E-shape and A-shape power chords using said Les Paul - these samples are all the power chords you hear in the tracks.
Very good ,I only listened to 4 and 5 ,your tracks are always interesting ,I like the sound of the guitars and your real guitar solos sounded great the tone was awesome for that style ,Les Paul’s and humbuckers rip, I’m a strat man but I do have a PRS with some humbuckers the Santana model but never use it ,i look at it at times and think maybe one day .nice mix I could hear everything.you know what you’re doing ,brill.
This kind of comment makes my day, given the state of my ears. They weren’t good, even then.
Trk 2 is good, too. (I may be biased…)
Funnily enough, a lot of my guitar “heroes” use strats: Hendrix, Gilmour, Gallagher, not forgetting the wonderful Hank Marvin (Atlantis - chills!).
Then I went to see Uriah Heep at the Lyceum in Waterloo - I think it was 1971. Mick Box with a black Les Paul. Love at first sight and I’ve been faithful ever since.
I’d seen King Crimson at the same venue, but Mr Fripp is more of a technician than a guitarist. (Speaking as someone who bought Court of the Crimson King in 1969!)
Trk 2’s good ,I get a “I love rock n roll” Joan jet vibe but much classier, I’ll listen to the others later .
Back to guitars , I used to own a black Shaftsbury les Paul late 70’s and loved it and part exchanged it for a black custom gibson les Paul ,it was ok for the pose at first but I hated it , heavy n big , it was harder to play than the Shaftsbury so i swapped it for a gibson SG ,the shop owner said the SG had belonged to Allan Holdsworth because Allan was in a cover band who played at the mecca night club in Bradford regular because he only lived 2 minutes up the road, probs mid to late 60’s before he got a name for himself ,wether it was allans or not I’m not sure ,you know what wheeler dealers are like ,then i got a black Japan early squier and never looked back. It Bites guitarist played a squier back in the mid 80’s they used to be good guitars. I remember Uriah heep when they were on the go ,all I remember was easy living,not my cuppa tea really. Fripp was great ,became Jimi’s favourite,I like the duo thing he does with toyah,toyah still looks good,lol .
I had a cherry red Custom, late 70s. Had to sell it mid 80s to pay bills. Broke my heart. It was the best guitar I’ve owned. So easy to play it almost played itself.
Can’t argue with the “heavy” - it weighed a ton!
Indeed, they had a great reputation, back then. Can’t speak for now, I’ve lost track of things.
