Oh sorry Reco, my reply wasn’t directed at you but the original poster.
It seems I understand the control room much better than how this forum works.
My bad.
Haha, all good ![]()
I’m with you and each to their own - there’s no such thing as a “You MUST work with Control Room” rule ![]()
You might find the “Listen” function makes the Control Room something to use even if you’re not sending multiple cues
THANK YOU. Is this even mentioned in the 2000 page bible that Cubase over-wrote?
Thanks…all four of these have been viewed by me a bunch…it seems that dumb blue button is not on other versions. Ridiculous.
Yeah, the blue on/off is new. It’s very small and obscure, as well. It’s fine once you know about, but it’s certainly easy to miss.
Perhaps this info is only for the paid master class. Haha
My “studio” is a cupboard, 7 foot by 7 foot.
I use the CR for 3 purposes:
Easy to switch to a mono mix using a cue;
Easy to change overall volume without touching the speakers, using cues (quiet, loud, window rattling);
Because of my crap hearing, I can insert eq plugins to boost the highs (so that, for instance, I can actually hear the hi-hats), without affecting the mix. (When I’m close to finishing a project, I get my wife to listen - she has Vulcan hearing.
Oh yes, and they went the extra mile to explain in full detail ![]()
Oh goodness.!
I see my sneaky, ‘naughty little friend’ (that I ‘discovered’ for the first time back in February) continues to catch people out… ![]()
Cubase Pro 14 - CONTROL ROOM went silent - Cubase - Steinberg Forums
I can only join in as others have said though - the Control Room in Cubase is a great part of the app, something I’d struggle to do without. Other DAWs have only recently begun catching up with adding the kind of workflow flexibility it helps provide… Yet sure, I know, for some it is also not a ‘must have’…
Just to add to this, I’ve been using the Control Room for years, since Cubase 5. I am pretty familiar with it and it’s ingrained in my workflow. However I notice that the buttons that activate each section have been redesigned sometime between my previous version (C11) and C14. They are now really very small, difficult to see, difficult to click on, easily overlooked and don’t even look like typical on/off buttons. They have caught me out on more than one occasion after moving to C14 and I’m not a Control Room newbie. Definitely a retrogade design step.
A lot in the last versions of cubase keeps gettong smaller and harder to see, very very annoying
How about reading the manual, instead of ranting online? I really don’t get it…
The cr section of Cubase is terrific, and fairly unique. Most DAW’s miss this very convenient part.
You should get it, seeing that you are a Cubase prodigy that knows EVERYTHING about every button and nuance of all versions of Cubase, old and new.
Unfortunately, I do not have the vast wisdom that you have, and it took me hours and the kind people on here were able to help guide me in the right direction.
What I, and many others would give to be like you, and never need assistance in anything. How awesome it must feel knowing that you are the smartest guy, not only in the studio, but in any place that you visit.
I did read the parts that I assumed had the correct answer. But I gave up to easily and missed that part. See, I’m just not as good as you.
I bet your friends, bask in your infinite intelligence and worship the ground you walk on.
But, most importantly, thanks for taking the time to swing by to let this small group know how dumb they are and how stupid they are using a forum.
Agreed, now that I have this sorted, I’m looking forward to diving in!
I put the ListenTo plugin there so I don’t have to put it on the output on every project - indeed nice.
Some buttons need to be big - some buttons can be small - the problem could be that the GUI designers don’t have a bunch of testers with different experience levels…
A lot of readings are way too small in those last versions, seems like Steinberg assumes everyone has a big screen😉
