Crossgrade to Nuendo now less than 400USD

Hello,

The later update to Nuendo 10 is free of cost when buying the crossgrade in the framework of this offer.
Naturally, Nuendo updates are more expensive than Cubase due to it’s extra features and capabilities
in the proaudio domain.

Thanks,
Timo

Ok, so I understand that I am forfeiting my Cubase license to crossgrade to a Nuendo license, but will a Nuendo dongle open up Cubase? Just like a Cubase Pro license will open Cubase Artist? I’d love to crossgrade, but have years of cubase sessions that I will always need to access. So will I then have to spend $560 to buy another copy of Cubase just to open older sessions?

Anyone know where I could buy an older Cubase license to crossgrade?

IMO, if you dont need any of those functions you dont really need Nuendo. It sounds like a great idea to have the flagship app but, will you use those functions? Can you afford the upgrade prices and last but not least can you tolerate Nuendo ALWAYS being behind on feature set with Cubase as Cubase seems to be the test ground for new bells and whistles?

You gotta take the read pill to enter the Matrix that Steve posted above ^^^ :nerd:

Does anyone have an idea of how long the promo is going? I don’t see an end date on the email or the website page.

Yes, I saw that. But my question is will a Nuendo license allow me to open up Cubase Pro sessions? I know a Cubase Pro license lets you open cheaper, limited versions of Cubase like Artist and Elements. Since Nuendo is fancier and costlier, will it allow me to open up lower versions of Steinberg software like Cubase Pro?

You can open Cubase project files from within Nuendo, according to these links (not updated though, but this should still be valid):

Forum post: Cubase projects from Nuendo ? - Nuendo - Steinberg Forums

In case you use VCA faders, it’s mentioned that these work a bit different in Nuendo/Cubase. I don’t know if that’s still the case. There might be something else that is working a bit different, but it was also mentioned somewhere about that there will be no function differences in the future (can’t find it now).

Anyhow, it seems you can open all your old Cubase projects within Nuendo (although not the Cubase application itself). After all, Nuendo is “Cubase and more” so it’s very logical that Nuendo can open Cubase projects.

You need to make a difference between opening a program/application and opening a project file…

Yes, the Nuendo license will allow you to open Cubase project files.
No, the Nuendo license won’t let you open the Cubase program - but that shouldn’t matter since Nuendo will contain (from version 10) everything in Cubase plus more, and it will open your old Cubase project files.

Awesome, thanks for the help Starsprinkler!!

Additional multichannel support. Cubase is stuck at 5.1. (Logic Pro X, Reaper, and others have more…) Other than that, I can’t think of anything…

For music solo, Cubase is very likely enough.
You can check this list if there is something that interests you (a couple of these things are now in C10, like AAF and Video-follows-edit-mode):

Loudness Track could be interesting though:

Until N10 is released, Q2 2019.

I recommend to all to download the nuendo demo before upgrading at the bargain price.
I was really surprised at the difference and will not be paying the extra for less in my case.
Others may find completely opposite results.

Feature wise it’s like stepping back to version 9.5. (Version 10’s features will be added in the new update.)

Did you find anything else that is “less”? Am trying to sort this out myself.

Thanks.

The Steinberg FB page has a ‘pinned’ Nuendo sale post at top, stating ‘Expires on 15 May 2019’

Some of the most useful Nuendo features, not included in Cubase are multi-branch undo (much more than a standard undo/redo) and the advanced crossfade editor.

Hi,

I just checked the N8 demo. However, this version sort of resembles Cubase 9 in terms of the GUI.

Whilst I love that old GUI, I am not sure this is the version with the rewritten graphics engine, which I think got introduced in Cubase 9.5.

As there is no demo for the latest version of Nuendo (8.4?), I am not sure if I can upgrade as this would be a deal breaker.

Can someone confirm the N8.4 runs on that optimised gfx engine? Thank you!

Hi.

I’m evaluating it also. You can upgrade the demo to the latest version (8.3.20). Go to HUB>SUPPORT>CHECK FOR UPDATES and you should be good to go.

I believe this version has everything up to C9.5. I thought the new graphics came in with C10, didn’t it?

So far, even Cubase Expression Maps seem to be working. Pretty neat.

Hello guys,

Nuendo 8 is comparable to Cubase 9.5. Of course, therefore it still features the “old” GUI
and not the new one introduced in Cubase 10. The new GUI will be introduced to Nuendo 10 in Q2/2019.
Nuendo 8 contains the rewritten video engine (that was actually introduced with Nuendo 8).

“but not least can you tolerate Nuendo ALWAYS being behind on feature set with Cubase”
This is a wrong statement. New features are implemented on both Cubase and Nuendo. Else you could also argue, that new
features introduced in Nuendo (audio alignment, video engine, virtual reality, edit mode, automation system) make it
into Cubase “later”. As the release cycles of Cubase and Nuendo converge in a way (not saying they’ll be coming at the
same time, but only with a difference of a few months just like C10 and N10) that whole feature-first discussion will be
virtually pointless.

Thanks,
Timo
