i think it’s funny that people here blame third party plugins for 99% of the crashes. Plugins do make up the majority of the problems, BUT some people are completely neglecting the fact, that there are countless forum threads with people showing videos how just loading one single audio track with nothing on it gets the asio meter pecking under macos.
i think it’s time that we all consider not trashing people that have serious trouble getting the software to work properly, especially when things get super random, like: people having 0 issues with 10.0.6 then installing 10.5.2 and suddendly have plenty of random problems. having to send in crash reports, explain what kind of graphics card they are using, what plugins they are using etc… c’mon guys, who are you trying to fool? it’s no secret that developers can fk up, and with macos users they have fkd up, so there needs to be a fix in order to at least get the people sorted that do not have problems that are 100% plugin or/and user induced.
unfortunately, companies usually go for features over fixed, so either they fix most of the 10.5.2 randomness in 11.0.0 or they will lose quite a few customers, even more than they have lost already (and i’m speaking out of personal experience, i know plenty of friends who at least temporarily for new projects have switched to logic or studio one)
my 2 cents
Serious and respectful question - can you point me to a thread where a macOs user can’t load an empty track? I don’t think I’ve seen threads here where users get ‘trashed’ for having problems with Cubase, I’ve generally seen users try to help each other out when there are problems. I probably use a tiny percentage of Cubase features. I’ve had problems sometimes with Windows 10 running Cubase and sometimes (far, far less) problems with macOs running Cubase. At the moment Cubase is ding very well on Big Sur beta for me. And something might break that down the line. And maybe Windows 10 will start to behave with my desktop down the line, but for now it won’t. Who knew computers and software running on software running on even more software were complicated?
Steve.
Sure, here you go:
Sorry if this has been covered, but is anyone having CPU crashes/issues on projects in 10.5 that are considerably smaller than ones you have used in previous versions? I have a pretty damn good system, Windows 10, 32gb RAM, i7 processor, never had...

just search for “asio spikes” and you will find more. unfortunately, for some reason i can’t find the super extreme ones that even posted videos of their asio meter pecking with virtually 1 track in the project.
this might be because some threads disappeared over the last months, incl some of mine
