Cubase 12 is coming in 2022

You need to manage your projects and render audio. Nothing will ever stay the same forever and expecting something to work as you ask is just unreasonable.

Hi there,

I have some questions, please:

a I) Does that mean, if I do the C11 / 12 upgrade included in the grace period, that I automatically agree to an upgrade to 12…
a II)…and that the upgrade will be carried out automatically when my computer is online again?

b) can I upgrade to Cubase 11 and do without the Grace Period Update, so that it is not technically taken into account?

thanks

The grace period update is optional. You can do it. It’s an offer. But we are not forcing you to get the free update. Have a look here:
https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/4408738020498-Free-Grace-Period-Update-to-Cubase-12

Thank you for the answer, Matthias.

So does a Grace Period upgrade to 12 equate to a declaration of intent to change the license system?

greets

If you update to Cubase 12 (whether with a paid update, upgrade or the free grace period update) you accept to use Steinberg Licensing. You will still keep your USB eLicenser with the legacy Cubase 11 license though. Cubase 12 is solely running with the new system then.

Thank you for clarifying my questions and the time you spent on them.

Are upgraded licences going to be explicitly marked ā€œNFRā€ in eLicenser?

Yes, they will effectively be marked as NFR and ineligible to be used again for an upgrade.

So if I turn down the 12 Grace Period option, will my future upgrade eligibility be abolished?

I don’t really understand what you are afraid of. When updating to Cubase 11 you will be able to update to Cubase 12 for free. You can take that offer or just don’t. The Cubase 11 license is on your USB eLicenser.

Actually I have to verify what happens when you make use of the free grace period update to Cubase 12 after Cubase 13 is released. Maybe the update is still for free. I have to admit that the scenario where customers don’t take the offer to update for free is rather rare…

It is a purely factual question. How can you interpret fear here …

I’m just trying to repeat the question. If I don’t take the free 12 upgrade, will I be excluded from future upgrades? will my future upgrade eligibility be abolished?

thanks

No, absolutely not. If you update to 11 now, you just update to Cubase 11. That’s it.

Will I be able to upgrade to 13 from 11 or will my future upgrade eligibility be abolished with stying in the ā€œold systemā€?

Yes, of course you will be able to upgrade from 11 to 13.

But why would you want to update from 11 to 13 if you can update from 12 to 13 cheaper? And the update from 11 to 12 has cost you nothing. It’s a bit absurd.

Thanks for answering the question.

Why not?

Updating to 12 you can continue using 11 without problems. Not wanting to accept the grace period is like an eccentricity, rather than something logical. Do not you think?

I like to support my favorite daw. So why not?

seems irrational? yes, its a lovethang

In that case, absolute silence. It is a wonderful act of love
