I’m not a Cubase power user (though I am for Studio One). I’m not seeing a lot a reasons to complain when using C13 Pro, although I’m probably not letting the program stretch out as much as it’s meant to. The only bug I’ve encountered is the disappearance of the mix console when opening in a separate window. That’s it so far.
After removing the Windows 11 update (KB5032190), the problem I reported at the beginning of the post no longer occurred. I have been working with C13 for several days now and I am more than satisfied with this new update. At this point, it is my duty to apologize to Steinberg and of course to the programmers, for having expressed a negative opinion towards this new update.
Thanks also to those who contributed to providing constructive responses in an attempt to resolve the reported anomaly.
Welcome to the club. I created a list of what’s not working. I brought this up to them, on a chat with an associate, and he didn’t even try to make install or uninstall or fix or that, but went straight to the point that there’s a lot of graphic issues, as well as other things…
here’s my post:
I went back to Cubase 12 because there is to many bugs, U-he plugins gone - Seventh Heaven gone - inserts and send not working and so on
I’m gonna have to go back to 12. I agree: this should not have been released in its present state. There is no way this should’ve made it out of beta and into RC. It is just… really, really not ready.
Going back to 12.0.70 did not help.
What OP said. Ugh.
I don’t think it was released. I think it escaped!
Sounds like a disaster to me. I would rant too. Good to see it resolved though. Still considering updating myself. Thanks for sharing MaoMas.
This message I would like to see:
Cubase 13: all bugs fixed, all problems solved!
And then work with a fine, smooth daw program and feel the joy I’ve had working with Steinberg 12 on an Atari 1040STFM! Back then I loved the genius behind all of it.
What happened to the people behind the screen of Steinberg? What went wrong?
They sold out to Yamaha for 30 pieces of silver.
Or…
They moved on, after selling their company to Yamaha.
I was a very vocal critic of C13 last November, but the .021 release solved all the bugs from which I was suffering and is probably the most stable Cubase I’ve ever used. But it’s all for naught - I use 12 simply because I’ve had enough of re-learning the software every year because the devs can’t leave the interface alone, moving functions around, removing this, adding that, renaming the other. Too much for me. (I’m talking about existing features, here, not new. I’m all for new features.)
[edit]
Just remembered, even the staff can’t keep up - someone was asking about quantizing, was told (by a staffer) to use iterative quantize, but he had to come back to say that it was now called soft quantize. What else has been renamed, but you think it’s been removed? Who knows.
[another edit]
The link to the subject of my 1st edit. Not having a go at Martin, who I find to be very helpful and very patient with us, but if he can’t keep up with the changes how are we supposed to?
Really, you might do some research, and correct your cynical narrative. The same devs who were there at the beginning are still there.
Since the mid 80s? Really?
[edit]
Cynical or not, the man is not wrong. Renaming, moving and altering already functioning features in Cubase for no apparent reason is tiring as a user.
I don’t really care about who they are or were. I just care about giving my money to people that keep making good software. Cubase is still Cubase for me, I consider this just a huge misstep, but it’s really the first time from my end, in 15 years I’ve been using it.
Of course a second one, or lack of willing to fix things for everybody (not the few lucky people who got it all sorted out with the 0.21 update) could lead me to look for some other DAWs out there, but for now I would draw attention just on the actual issue, hoping it’s solved before the fall (I mean autumn, in this case).
Yes.
.
I do remember a post by a Steinberg staff member basically saying the opposite. I think it was Mathias, but I’m not 100%.
I’m referring to Karl Steinberg and Manfred Rürup. I thought they had moved on, as people do.
This is a remarkably buggy release. It really is. The fact that we’re already on version 13 and there are still so many problems with scaling on Windows speaks volumes about where this company’s priorities lie.
I was somewhat negative about Cubase 13, but decided to make the jump.
Created a new build based on AM5 7900X and until so far it is stable.
I have to add, I have not been diving deep into the program.
For stability reasons, I decided to avoid overclocking when building a DAW-related ensemble of parts.
I’m not overclocking either and am on Intel with a higher end Asus motherboard. It’s been… not good. And now I find out that there may be a serious defect in the 13th & 14th generation highest end i9s, which mine is. Damn.
@DrWashington I am curious to know what defect you are referring to. Intel is working to address the power related issues. Is this the concern for you?
