Cubase 13 - Any word on new update cycle?

100% , some of its stock plugins rival 3rd party developers.

And, it is a very complex program.

To add to that, just take VariAudio alone, which imho is superior to Melodyne workflow wise. Soundwise one can find Melodyne better, but imho it is negligible most of the time. And the full version of Melodyne alone is more expensive than Cubase Pro lol.
Same goes for the track aligner, compared to Vocalign, and many other things. Cubase gives you all you need to make everything related to music production and the price is OK!

I’m using VariAudio more and more instead of Melodyne. For small touch ups I find it sounds more natural. Which confounds me a bit because I have the notion Melodyne should be much better.

A lot of the stock Cubase stuff is fantastic.

Frequency might be one of the very best equalizers I’ve used and the channel strip is just unbeatable in terms of convenience.

Agreed with the quality of the included plug-ins. People don’t dig deep enough with what they already have and are distracted continually with all the bling that in the end gets you nowhere. Much of the music software industry is like that though, that’s why people own 5+ sequencers, and 2000+ sample libraries and get NOTHING done as far as output and thus income earned…

I completely agree. It can be a slippery slope and can get lost very easily on endless choices…

I sometimes go to Plugin Alliance for instance and I think to my self, “do I really need yet another mastering program , or compressor?”.

It’s what you do with what you have I think…

It’s Wednesday this week folks   :+1: :upside_down_face: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’m pretty sure every week ,there is a Wednesday !

I agree that many of us end up with loads of redundant plug-ins. But from my point of view, that happens because the tools are either too hard to use or have a bewildering (or archaic) user interface. I believe it is true that a person who really knows the Steinberg plug-in inside and out can accomplish just about anything that could be done with other plug-ins. But I just find most of the Steinberg plug-ins confusing. They look like they were all developed by different people with no concept of common terminology and a common visual approach. And just within the Steinberg line, there is an enormous amount of overlap.

I feel the same way about Waves. Fabfilter and Izotope have fewer discrete products, but they make more sense to me.

Wow , you learn something new every day

Sale finishes tomorrow and it’s Wednesday the day after , Spectralayers patch being released this week ,so could it be …

VariAudio rocks, and is a major leg up on Ableton.
(Heck, even FL Studio has better audio re-tuning than Ableton…)

I also second the notion that the built-in effects are top notch in most cases.

(I like the Ableton effect strip GUI much better than Cubase, though. But can’t have it all.)

That really depends on what you do Tuesday night.

That video is from an ex-Cubase user who actually works on the Presonus tech support team now.

And yes, it’s a nice update.

Yeh , great update

I didn’t say anything about Cubase being expensive. I simply prefer using Logic over it. The user experience is much better.

I haven’t purchased a single Sample Library, Plug-in or Virtual Instrument/Soft Synth in over a year so that is not burning any funds here. Cubase updates are in line with competitors that update yearly or every other year (after some simple math). I have already paid the (often) higher initial cost of entry. That is not a factor.

I simply find it demotivating to use, these days. I like using Logic more, so I am more productive and get burnt out less. I haven’t done much in Cubase since I finished out everything in January and started using Logic. I haven’t even bothered installing it on my Mac.

But you recently said that you will be going back to PC as implied there’s no advantage with the new Macs (this thread):

I think you’re a little confused right now perhaps?

It should be noted that Dom Siglas just went a pretty long stretch of not uploading any videos. Perhaps he was busy making videos for something else? :smirk:

i heard a new version of Yamaha Montage keyboard should replace the original one, as far as i remember Dom also works as a presenter for montage and makes YT videos for them.
which probably makes him busy those months before Cubase 13 and New Montage releases
