Real time effects for video editing (starting with “real time transitions” mid 90ies) was the biggest selling point for various video systems and their associated accelerator boards (the equivalent of DSP cards for audio).
Real time for video has always been a big thing, and in the last decade at least, there was no need for proprietary processing cards since everything is done in the GPU.
That’s the big advantage video has, they get for free the huge advances of GPUs brought by gaming.

I just saw an internal memo from Steinberg that said they had everything ready to go, but have decided to move the launch date back 6 months because “we designed this product with adults in mind and that %^#$ forum convinced us we need to re-design for the pre-pubescent market.”

That’s unfortunate.

Clip Laucher in Cubase would definitely make me ditch Ableton Live. This is the only reason I use Ableton anyway.

Yes … but the wording is different: The Cubase 12 leak talked about the beginning of the grace period, the Cubase 13 leak today says “Cubase 13 is finally here”
