I think a good marketing ploy. to get the online internet talking about it.

“Buzz marketing”. It is a good idea. But you only do that the last few weeks before you launch. If you do it right, you can create some real interest in the product, especially outside the current user base. But if you try to do that for many weeks, you will really irritate people and do more harm than good. So this is a pretty strong indication we are down to the last week or two.

well, there is info listing "what’s new in 13"on a forum ,copied from a selling site, probably its a legit one. don’t know if its all the list or how accurate it is
looks like nice list of features, but as always some will be happy, and some disappointed or with mixed thoughts about it.
looks anyway that the release date is probably going to be in one to 2 weeks i guess

… features Windows-compliant multi-window handling” – I’m in.

what does it means ? for what scenarios is useful ?

If it’s true, it would mean Cubase on Windows would use the Windows GUI the way it’s intended … for instance, no more “bar” stuck to the top of the screen, and it would behave like other Windows applications, compliant with Windows programming guidelines.

I’m hoping for an end to stuff like this:

Hmm…
The reason that makes me think it is probably fake, is that there isn’t really included any of the “bigger” requested features…
Instead too many completely reworked key areas. To me this doesn’t sound like a Steinberg update.

Also how everything is written, doesn’t sound that “steinbergy”.

… and I think it’s probably real because finally, they’ve completely reworked key areas, and not added lots of distracting and buggy new features. :smirk:

Still no improvement for Expression Maps. Massive disappointment IMO.

This sounds legit. Wait and see.
They told C13 was mainly a GUI update so it’s consistent.

  • Now features Windows-compliant multi-window handling. Self explanatory.

  • Vertical zoom with the mouse wheel means we could now zoom both horizontally and vertically at the same time. I guess this is independent from the track height as it could just be like zooming in on an image, keeping individual track height untouched, but that could also mean the track height can now be free and not limited to predefined steps.

  • Major graphical overhaul including ancient plugins (MIDI inserts).

  • On the fly switchable Mono ↔ Stereo for tracks.

  • Now requires 75 GB of free space for full install.

All of this was asked for a long time.

Also polyphonic + length MIDI step input. This one is actually insane.
Same as Record MIDI CC as ramps. Like. Yeah. So this wasn’t even a bug. They now add it as a feature. Well that’s more than welcome, thanks.

I hope this also includes the removal of the ability to change parameters with the mouse wheel.

well everyone has its favorite features , for me i hope those made in (although not in the “leaked” list )mostly for workflow improvements and less clicks
*tabbed insert plugin window + option to follow track selection(for Vsti also)
*main controls as volume-pan on track header on project window
*new modern gain envelope replacing the old pencil tool
*gapless audio(i doubt it made it in C13 )
etc…

YES! hopefully.

We don’t know that for sure. The biggest update for expression maps in Dorico 5 for instance (the ability to have per-articulation track delays in the expression map) was just buried in the release notes, and was not in any of the promoted features. Lots of people didn’t even know that feature was added and have still been asking for it recently, even though it has been there since the release. From looking at the features list, you would not have known there were any updates for expression maps.

We’ll have to wait for the release notes to really get a good sense if there were updates for expression maps.

I’d be pissed if they removed that. It’s one of my favorite features in the whole program. And it’s consistent!

there’s no need to remove it but i can see the option of turning it off in the preferences being useful for some users

I just hope the updated GUI wont reduce space and lead to step backwards in terms of track size/fit that would affect small monitors as well as mobile usability. But it really looks ironed.

What’s that Description ?
Maybe better wait for Cubase 14 :upside_down_face:
