Ever since I have updated to cubase 13 if I try to edit the eq from the small window in the channel or mixer section it either doesn’t work at all. Or crashes the program every single time. I want to love this but it’s hard

Hi and welcome to the forum,
Reported to Steinberg. Thank you.
Thanks. Fingers crossed I can make music again soon
Hi,
You can use the EQ in the Channel Settings window. Can’t you?
Nope. But it was working the first few hours I downloaded the program. Since then I’ve done 6 reinstalls. Nothing. As soon as I click to create a point in the small eq curve panel it enlarges to a giant one. When that happens there’s a 50/50 crash chance so far. So much so that I can replicate it everytime I open the program without fail. The only way it work is if you scroll the Q a tiny bit with a point already made from the pop up and click and drag really quickly sometimes the pop up will show for a second and then disappear allowing it to work as it did on release, Still, super janky. Nothing like 12 which is how I know it’s a bug. As for you recommendation. Off Yea but thats sort of destroys my process. This is kinda one of the features that sold me. I need that Eq curve for adjustments on the fly. So not only does it not do its basic function but it also risks crashing in session with clients. Unfortunately until there’s a fix studio one has to become my primary again. I say that with immense sadness. It bewilders me that something can work amazing for years and then break so badly that the only option is another daw or the previous version of said company’s software
Hi,
Could you try in Cubase Safe Start Mode or even to trash the Cubase preferences folder, please?
Already done all that unfortunately. Clean uninstall. All folders. 3rd party cleaner tried as well. I almost considered deleting my entire cubase account thinking the bug had dug that deep. But I didn’t… honestly deleting my cubase account is the last thing I can think of lol. I have deleted cubase and every file in every way you could possibly imagine. All the folders. Everything
It’s such a shame. Such an incredible piece of software. If only it had the stability of studio one. But you can’t expect that from software that has 30 years of bloating sadly… unless you build it from the ground up again. That’s the advantage Bitwig and Studio one 6 have on the competition.
What is the folder path to the Cubase prefs folder that you deleted?
All folders in the user library, as well as the second user library that Mac likes to hide , reference folders, plugin folders, audio folders, Every possible file that could have been associated with steinburg or nuendo. As mentioned it works in 12 and did work in 13 for the first half day to day. Then bricked.
Specifically tho. Mac Hd/Library/Application support/Steinburg
That’s the primary. Every install I allowed cubase to use default paths.
Please copy and paste the exact paths. I’m trying to help you troubleshoot, and The narrative you supply is too vague.
Just wanted to chime in that i had this issue as well, on day one.
Had another crash first but the second one was when trying to open the small EQ window. It worked after i re booted it, but it wasn’t a good start.
Also had all folders and files on the internal SSD. Gone back to Logic for now.
Thank god I’m not crazy. I love Cubey but it is begging me to hate it. Reminds me of my…never mind lol
Hi,
Cubase 13.0.20 maintenance update, which includes the fix, has been released. Please, download and install the update.
Hopefully it’s the solution
Hi Martin, I have installed the 13.0.20 version and opened the StudioEQ insert on a track but I did’nt get the old ‘wave-form’ anymore. Is is totally changed… (First time it crashed too). Is there a way to view the spectrum? (There is a possibillity to put ‘Show Spectrum’ on but when I do that nothing happens…)
Hi,
What do you mean by the “wave-form”, please? Could you attach a screenshot, what do you get and a screenshot from old Cubase version, what you would expect, please?
