No idea what a “Kernelbase.dll” is but i think thats what crashed it. I read somewhere it could possibly be a Kontakt issue.
I will check my kontakt 7 and libraries are all up to date but any available info on that DMP file would be appreciated
Thanks for your report. At this stage I’m afraid the DMP doesn’t tell us anything about the root cause, could be anything, us or 3rd-party plugins. What would help in this regard is a deterministic way to reproduce this crash. Thank you!
The more im investigating the more it looks like its a plugin. Similar forum posts on the same issue concerning kernelbase.dll point to it being a plugin. Native Instruments is getting a few mentions.
I will uninstall NI kontakt and do a full re-install of it and my libraries.
Maybe the Cubase update installation has tripped up Kontakt somewhere.
The process of elimination begins!
I’m still having crash issues with v13. The crashes are random. In this case, I inserted a tempo track and tried to make a change. It has happened while working with expression mapping. It has also occurred when making changes within the VST I was working on. Currently, I’m using Musio, Zebra2 (3 instances) ,Tallis Strings.
My DMP file is to big to add to the post. Do you have a shared space I can drop it.
In another post I made, I did a couple of tests. I create a new project.
Test One: I added a signature track. I changed the signature in the midi track window, and it worked as expected. When I attempted to change the track in the Inspector, the screen froze and eventually returned the Crash message.
Test two: Created a new project. Add Cinematic Studio Strings using Kontakt 7. When attempting to load Expression Map, I got the same behavior. Cubase Froze, followed by a Crash message.
Because I rebooted the machine before the test, Cubase created a new crash file, which is much smaller. Attached is the DMP file
Yes. Yes, this is a nightmare. I went back to 12.0.70 and it’s crashing just about every other time.
Why can’t Steinberg get this under control? They keep pumping out new versions but they can’t even seem to insulate the core of the program from plugins or whatever is causing this instability! What a mess.
VST has turned into such a disappointment. Every developer seems to hate VST3 relative to VST2.4 and this program is now just a frightfully unstable mess. I can’t get anything done with it anymore.
Time to wrap my head around Ableton once and for all and just live with the limitations. I can’t abide this anymore. Life is too short to keep fighting with this bug-ridden, garbage DAW that never seems to get any better–only newer.
sorry to hear about your bad experience with our software. I’d like to invite you to send me all relevant crashlogs to me in PM so that I can personally try to rule out the root causes.
I’m having the same unstable crashes in my Cuabse 13 AI on the PC with Win 10. This happens only when I load BFD 3 plugin in the project. My Cubase 13 AI is to the latest version but the issue still persists. I’ve emailed both Steinberg and BFD supports, but they take too long to respond and haven’t provided any useful solution. Cubase LE AI Elements 13.0.20 64bit2024.1.15 7.30.01.953.dmp (1.0 MB)
I understand your anger and frustration man, I had these kind of issues with Cubase 5 and updates, Cubase 10, Cubase 11 and updates, and so many crashes and bugs despit a sufficient setup and legit tools. It recently needed weeks to have the option to reactivate my license… and an answer from the custumer service. I am serioulsy thinking of going ProTools and relearn a new DAW.
