As the topic says. I’m putting it here because to my recollection Cubase 12 had smooth ruler drag zoom.
This one lags and catches up sometimes creating a jumpy zoom experience.

I will try to do a screen take
true…
Yeah, right!?
Please fix, Steinberg.
This is driving me nuts. PLEASE FIX!
agreed.
@Armand is this on the list of fixes in the next maintenance update?
To be sure it makes the ruler drag zoom function useless.
It may have something to do with stuck horizontal scrolling that was introduced in C13:
Strange behaviors introduced with C13.
This is still infuriating and I hope it gets picked up in the next update. Can anyone confirm?
Interestingly, the ruler drag zoom works perfectly smoothly in a project that is NOT activated.
Why would this be?
Ok, it’s got nothing to do with activated or non- activate projects so ignore that.
Ruler drag zooming is smooth as butter on my MacBook.
It was only choppy and laggy/unresponsive on my second monitor. Maybe it’s to do with the refresh rate? However, at 70 Hz it’s not too bad so I would still expect the drag zoom to be smooth on that monitor as well.
Same here. Cubase 13 pro, ruler drag zoom is really lagging. I hope this will be fixed soon. I never had issues in cubase 9 and 10 (recently upgraded to 13). PC (Windows 10) user. should be powerful enough to run everything smoothly.
Same here also. It’s very random when it happens. But it seems to only be happening during playback. When I’ve paused the music and zoom, it seems to be fine. Anyone else have the same experience?
I also noticed it’s not exclusively the ruler bar zoom that’s acting up. When I drag the low- and high cut filter in the eq-section, it’s the same behavior of nothing happening for a while.
Quite frustrating… I don’t see the point of it
Or if it’s Steinberg telling us that we need it because we will accidentally make adjustments involuntarily then at least I’d like the option to turn it off .
13.0.41 unfortunately - no changes. When can we expect a fix?
Rather annoying isn’t it. Serves no purpose.
Maybe it’s a Mac trackpad thing (that’s what I use)…
Do you use the same?
Exactly!!!
That delay before anything moves is so annoying
Yes - so annoying! We already complained about this in another topic - but nothing happened. Most people just said it is working fine for them… I almost thought it was on my laptop only…
It’s still present on 14 too! I just cannot use either 13 or 14. I’ve raised many tickets with Steinberg about this but was told that they’re aware of the problem. I’ll just be using 12 for the rest of my life by the looks of it.
I have noticed the “click on ruler and drag up & down zoom issue” appearing in Cubase 13 and literally had to stick to 12 just because that feature is too much part of my interactions with the program.
I hear that it is still present in 14 and this kind of puts me off to upgrade Especially because I barely used 13 because of this… Can anyone from Steinberg confirm if this was fixed? As it is clearly something many people are claiming to suffer from
I was using Cubase 13 on MacOS Ventura
It’s not fixed in 14. I’ve learned to live with it. It only happens during playback for me though. As soon as I hit stop, it works as it should be.
Also, this only happens on Windows for (I suspect my ancient GPU to be the culprit perhaps), on my Macbook it works fine.
