This is a bug Apple introduced in macOS 26.1. We are currently preparing a hot-fix with a workaround for this issue. A possible other solution is to downgrade to macOS 26.0.1.
Thank you @Arne_Scheffler
Hi,
Cubase 15.0.6 hotfix is out. This issue has been resolved in this hotfix update.
Tested it and it works better now. ![]()
I did a very quick test though and although I thought for a second that MassiveX which Iād had opened randomly was getting jittery, it did not cause any more trouble after opening it a second time (could be an NI issue, not a Steinberg issue).
Will keep an eye on it and update any findings.
I am still experiencing stuttering at times, especially when a plugin window is open, like Arturia āREV INTENSITYā and a channel window. Then when you click the timeline and the channel window gets hidden, the choppiness returns. Video:
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a Plugin UI
- Open Channel window, place next to each other
- Click on the Timeline window (which hides channel window)
So MacOS 26.2 just dropped and it contains virtually no real bugfix at all. That GPU buffer issue is going to plague us for 6 more months isnāt it?
Had the UI freezing and based on reading this thread I disabled GPU Acceleration.
Instantly solved the problem.
MacBook M1 Ultra Tahoe 26.1.
Cubase 12 pro.
Guys, has anyone fixed this issue? Iām facing the same problem. Since updating to the new macOS Tahoe 26.2, my DAW has been lagging like crazy. Iām using a 2020 MacBook Pro (32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 8GB graphics). Iām stuck in the middle of a project and really need help
i am using CUBASE 14 PRO
Thank you it worked for me cubase 14pro
Iāve had the same issue and in the 2 min of testing this worked for me as well. the different windows and stuff did nothing and I have no hidden windows behind anything. although I am using 3 screens so a lot of windows IN view.
Quick update:
Mac OS Tahoe 26.3 does not seem to fix the issue.
Hereās one thing Iāve noticed that I havenāt seen mentioned here, but I donāt know if it means anything. No stuttering for me on Cubase 14.0.41, until I recently updated Tahoe (I think to 26.2). So I upgraded to Cubase 15.0.10 - problem still exists. I upgraded to Tahoe 26.3 - problem still exists. Iām playing around with a simple project - an audio file (reference), a few Kontakt 8 instances and an Opus instance. What Iāve noticed is no stuttering when playing the audio file by itself, or the audio file plus the Opus instance. The stuttering begins once I unmute a Kontakt instance. Mute the Kontakt instance and the stuttering stops. Should be no hardware issues - Mac Studio M4 Max 128GB memory, three monitors (one 5K ultra wide 60 Hz and two older HDs 144Hz). Iāve enabled and disabled GPU acceleration - no difference.
Thanks a lot, worked for me in Cubase Pro 13 after a recent Mac update.
Przemyslaw what was the Mac update? And what Mac system do you use?
GPU issue still persists in 26.3.1 on both my M4 Max and M1 Ultra Machine
Disappointing but thanks for confirming ![]()
