Cubase 14 pro demo (v14.0.5) crashes on startup.
I installed it on my macmini intel 10.14.6. Cubase 13 was running strong.
I did a video of the startup screen and according to the bottom line of the splash screen there’s no precise culprit. It crashed at the “webview.bundle” loading step, “sampler track.bundle” “scu.app”, “videoengine.bundle”… it depends.
But I never got it starting properly.
Is it truly only for Mac OS Sonoma/Ventura/Sequoia (cannot use Monterey)? Still on a 2017 iMac that works wonderfully but can’t go higher than Monterey.
I don’t know, it’s not starting on Mojave on my side. I will try on macbook Monterey tonight and on my Ventura also. On the Cubase 14 download page it says : macOS 13 · 14 · 15 / Intel-based & Apple Silicon
Cubase 13 official compatibility was : macOS Sonoma, macOS Ventura, macOS Monterey, macOS Sequoia BUT was working even on Mojave.

Cubase 12.5? Didn’t they stop. 5 updates after 11?
Anyhow no. There’s no way to update to 13 now unless you find a third party selling an old license.

First of all - Thank you very much for the vastly improved Cubase 14! Well done gentlemen!
Finally Cubase is up to date with the most modern DAWs!
Many of my most requested features are finally there.
The Dorico inspired Score Editor is great choice!
Still I’m wondering why the Right Panel in Dorico, became a Left Panel in Cubase and the Right Panel in Dorico became a Top Panel in Cubase?!
This is very uncomfortable and contra-intuitive for all those of us who are using Dorico on daily basis.
The Tool Panels in the Cubase’s Score Editor should remain on the same postions as they are in Dorico.
I hope, in the near future to see more Dorico features implemented in Cubase like:
- Expression / Percussion Maps the same as in Dorico.
- Playing Techniques.
- The existing playing technique assignment for an Expression/Percussion Map entry must be obligatory, just like in Dorico.
- Adding of custom playing techniques should be available.
- Playback Templates.
- The independent Voices per Staff concept.
- The Independent Voice Playback.
- This a perfect feature for Divisi.
- The Condensing feature should be also available.
- Would be nice if the Score Editor has it’s own Key Command system that is similar to one in Dorico.
- Pop-ups for adding techniques and expression are needed as well.
- Ability to directly transfer projects between both apps.
Cubase is finally on the right track. Keep improving it in the same way!

I know right! I also upgraded to Ableton Live Suite 11 during at that time and got Suite 12 for free. We all know in advanced that Live 12 is coming and the upgrade offer is promising.
I mean we can predict Cubase new version always come around Nov - it’s my lack of consideration. I’m just feel sad or disappointed somehow.

That wont work either. He will need to buy someone’s Cubase 13 license and have it transferred to his account if he wants it.
No matter what media Cubase is bought on (does it even come on a disc anymore?), when you use the code it comes with to activate the license, it’s going to give you the current version. Those activation codes are just for a Cubase license in general, not a specific version. Any new Cubase license activated after today is going to put a Cubase 14 license in your Steinberg account.
I already miss XML import. Hopefully that ability will creep back in.

I got Cubase LE AI Elements 13 as a bundle with my new Yamaha DM3-D console last week. I activated it just today, November 6th, 2024.
Will there be a grace period upgrade to 14 for this version of Cubase? Interested mainly in checking out the new features (if available on this version), before Nuendo 14 comes out.

When we announced the release of Qubase 14
I activated my 13 update license today (2024.11.07), which I purchased during this sale. Is it possible to update to 14? I thought the previous license policy was to update to the latest version based on the activation date. I only see the 13 license activation in my account information.
I just upgraded to 13 a couple of weeks ago. I would have waited for 14 had I known we were so close to a release

Just upgraded from 13 pro to 14 pro and on first launch got a windows blue screen of death. Not a good start 
I have just upgraded from Pro 13 to Cubase Pro 14 - several of my external plugins and soft synths can not be opened / found in Pro 14.
Why?!
VST2? If so, in plugin manager you should be able to enable them, though they are not supported as stated
