Cubase 14 available now

if I buy cubase 14 pro, does it come with a usb elicenser from the official website or should I buy it separately?

How to copy samples from drum track to project folder? It is impossible? Damn

USB e-lic is over.

o staiberg’s page, they write that at the beginning of 2025,the usb elicenser service will be shut down.if i buy this from the official website,i won’t need the usb licenser and i can instal it easily?

It takes a few hours, just be patient

Since Cubase 12 the eLicenser is not used anymore, instead you enable the license using the Activation Manager. Forget about the eLicenser.

You can buy the software on the website, download it using the Download Assistant and activate it using the Activation Manager (which is part of the Download Assistant Installation).

You don’t need an usb-licenser at all anymore. If you already had one with old product licenses on it that couldn’t be transfered to the new licensing system you’d want to keep it. But in your case straight and simple answer: No. No need to buy a usb licenser at all.

Edit: see answer above, typing on a mobile with clumsy fingers - way to slow…

Go on plugins manager, theres a button to activate VST2.
Just mind that Steinberg is no more supporting VST2 so it’s on your own risk if you will have any kind of issue related.

Hi @Panchok,

You update process is not finished yet. You Cubase 13 license is still pending, that’s why you haven’t received the update to Cubase 14 yet. Please have a look here: https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/4412560691986-Steinberg-Licensing-Verification-Pending-or-Expired

Hi @Martin_Zimmermann,

Are you missing VST 2 plug-ins?

VST 2 plug-ins can still be loaded (except on native Apple Silicon) if the VST 2 plug-in scanner is manually enabled in the VST Plug-in Manager. However, Steinberg will no longer provide support for any issues related to VST 2

Start of 2025 they stated in a thread in the Nuendo section of the Forum

Many great features. I have been testing it and I have noticed some details that could be addressed for the next updates:

  • Undo button for the new Pattern Sequencer
  • Presets options for Pattern Sequencer , so you can create presets where the sequencer already starts at a certain note/key (for example C3, or C1, or C0 ,etc) so you don’t have to add one by one every time; and the preset/snapshot should also save the number of Steps and the Speed (for example: 32 steps, 1/16 speed)
  • Mixer in lower area should keep the same Zone distribution that you configured in the Main Mixer (for example, putting a Master fader and locking it to the Right side should also be reflected in both Mixers)
  • Adding a Modulator in the new Drum Machine doesn’t show up in the Upper zone, and if you try to make a Modulator in the lower zone and then select a parameter in the Drum Machine doesn’t work.
  • The right scrollbar can be hard to make it appear as it seems to do it only when you place the mouse slightly more to the Left side of the Right Edge. Since I am a trackball user that doesn’t have a scroll wheel then I have to drag the scroll bar, but as it is is kinda difficult, it should appear immediately when you place the mouse just at the right edge/border/line, and not some pixels at the left side.

Thanks Steinberg!

That’s a nice update, with many big and small improvements.

Nevertheless, I found something annoying that makes the workflow slower:

The new triangle in the lower left corner of each event that shows a fader is not shown when the start of this event is overlapped by another one. That wasn’t the case till C13, where you could grab the small dot in the upper center and change the volume no matter what.

Now, you need to have “show lanes” enabled in order to have all the clips shown, which is not only time-consuming but takes up a lot of space in the project window.

Exactly, so now to upgrade will cost ÂŁ120 when we could have waited 7 weeks and paid ÂŁ80

Enjoying the update so far. Some quirks I’ve found messing with the modulation section that I’ll maybe do a post on once I’ve tested further.

One is the Shaper doesn’t seem to work properly (or work at all in one shot mode).

I also had around 7 crashes within an hour of testing last night. This tended to happen when opening the GUI of 3rd party plugins.

Will test further today.

Well, also in C13 the handle for changing event volume could be blocked by another event. It just happended to be the center rather then the left edge.
I would recommend to use the Volume field in the Info line to change the gain. if you hold Alt/Opt when holding the mouse button there you even get a nice fader.

Please explain the math to us.

Why is Cubase & Nuendo iPad Controller paid? Unfortunately and regretfully I use these wonderful programs with the Avid iPad Controller. Do you have any thoughts on this?

You’re right. Nevertheless, it’s more common for the left (or right) edge of an event to be blocked, rather than its center. I guess that’s why I haven’t noticed that until you mentioned it.

I’m not complaining. As I’ve said I enjoy this update but I hope there’ll be some solution for that (maybe a floating triangle when you hover over the overlapped event?)
