Cubase 14 available now

Played around for a while, seemed ok but when I closed Cubase I got a “Cubase quit unexpectedly” crash report. Again, MacOS Sequoia 15.1, MacBook Air M3.

I feel like grace period is too small. I just bought Cubase Pro 13 upgrade on Sep 19 and 48 days later, Steinberg released Cubase 14 …

If I have purchased Cubase 13 through SPLICE “rent to own” program. Can I take advantage of the upgrade price to v14 if I have not yet finished paying for 13?

I agree. A bit of a slap in the face - bought 13PRO Sept 7, 2024 upgrade and I would have been ahead to wait 2 months

It’s probably niche to a minority of users, but the improvements to the score editor look amazing, and it was a brilliant idea to fold Dorico into Cubase! This will be a huge relief to composers, and completely transform workflow. Very excited about this release!

Same here… this company sure knows how to pzz people off with its upgrade shenanigans. I just upgraded in September. I’ll wait… again.

Does Cubase 14 Pro on PC still support VST2?

VST2 hasn’t been supported since Cubase 11 I believe. (Oh, seems I was wrong, reading the post below)

From the release notes…

End of VST 2 Compatibility Support
As previously announced, Cubase 14 marks the end of official compatibility support for VST 2 plug-ins. By default, the VST 2 plug-in scan is disabled in the VST Plug-in Manager, with only the VST 3 plug-in folder being scanned.

VST 2 plug-ins can still be loaded (except on native Apple Silicon) if the VST 2 plug-in scanner is manually enabled in the VST Plug-in Manager. However, Steinberg will no longer provide support for any issues related to VST 2.

So that’s a yes (but without support) then… good stuff. There’s editors for hardware and a few other bits I don’t want to lose.

I moved to Nuendo 13. I would like to know if Nuendo 14 will be released soon.

Still no routing folders?

Hi Steinberg, I’m enjoying steinberg growing as I’ve been watching all the improvements in all Software’s, that very nice to see, I like all the introduced futures in Cubase, exceptionally the modulation and dynamics creating that’s a very useful tool and everything else is amazing for myself as a user, I just have one question relation to the audio signal, I thought why not integrating the RMS signal into the mixer and wherever else works as you guys know better, I like the gain utility plugin and any gain staging future that Cubase offers, I thought with this again amazing improvements, why not to introduce RMS sides to Peak levels so I can know what I’m dealing with from the samples or the realtime recording without using any other tab , I think this will help a lot for viewing the electrical side of the audio piece. Thank you and I hope this simple request gets heard as I’ve been waiting for a long time for it and actively asking so I can fully rely on Cubase  greetings from Canada and Congratulations for the release!

Indeed - during the sale right? Seems like that was a bit rude since they had to know 14 was right around the corner. Why not wait a few weeks for the “sale” or push the grace period to something reasonable.

That they not only knew but actually planned it that way., And that’s the part that feels like a big FU.
I upgraded to 13 and purchased the cableguys package for some quick sidechain and filter effects the same week,
If I had known I would have waited but nope… they like playing tricks on their long time customers who actually pay for their software… and still no gapless audio? :exploding_head:
Yet,
I bet we’ll see the usual videos by the same players telling us how modern it is… again.

Its not just that the sale is too close - the added “pressure” that you would lose upgrade capability in 2025 from the usb dongle kinda pushed the urgency of the upgrade during the sale.

I get that sales etc are good and I like the Cubase 14 score improvements - but this just seems a bit inconsiderate. Seems like you would **have ** to know this would p off a lot of loyal customers.

Playing tricks? They’ve released updates around Nov/Dec for at least the past 10 years, we know that Cubase 12 was postponed until March and warned accordingly, that being the only exception.

I don’t know how longtime you’ve been but this is very much a traditional Steinberg release period. They have no reason to trick anyone, hence why there’s a grace period to start with.

Hi! I just update to Pro 13 on September 13, that.s 1.5 months ago. I know you can’t have an ad hoc upgrade path for every user but… is there something that can be done to establish a more thoughtful eligibility period?

This update is huge! The best over the last years.
Bravo Steinberg!
I’m going to purchase the update.
Now there are only two things I want to see implemented (hopefully in Cubase 15):

  1. Bussed folders
  2. Ability to export a score created with the new Cubase score editor, as Dorico file for an absolute match.

I activated Cubase 13 Pro on October 24, 2024. Would this qualify me for a free upgrade to Cubase 14 Pro under Steinberg’s Grace Period policy? What’s the cutoff date for eligibility?
