Some quirks I have noticed in Cubase 14 that I am reporting in the hope they are bugs and not new “features”
Potential Bugs.
Copy/paste not working when selecting with combined selection tool. (Audio only, midi still works fine)
When exporting with update display the cursor does not move. In previous versions you could track the cursor while watching your meters to detect where peaks occur.
Learning Quick controls no longer shows you which slot you are learning for. All works but no highlight around the QC slot you select anymore.
General stability is less stable than Cubase 13. I have experienced a crash or two when loading a modulator (which is a new feature) and just general playing around.
Feature Requests
Missing undo functions on the new pattern editor makes it very risky to use in a professional session. One wrong click and a pattern could be randomised with no way to get it back.
Copy and pasting of the clip gain from one clip to another. This would be helpful when dealing with multi-tracks of the same source, eg dialogue tracks, ambience mics from concerts etc. (Linked automation editing along with this request would be great.)
Supervision to work with update display on export. Would love this feature for loudness and other analysis.
That’s all for now. I am loving the new version and look forward to some stability and improved workflows with the next update.
It seems the creator of this channel has actually found and documented a few more bugs so this may be a useful resource for the dev team.
I have been using Cubase and Nuendo for over 20 years now and absolutely endorse and love the program.
I am happy to help in any way I can so don’t hesitate to ask.
A small one I have encountered: the “Save as Template” dialogue lists old, deleted files in the ‘current presets’ list, as though reading from an old version of the templates folder. In fact, it doesn’t show any of the presets that are currently in the actual preferences folder.
I ran into a similar issue a few weeks ago while trying to save track presets (something I hadn’t done prior): I couldn’t find them anywhere after saving them! I reached out to support who had me relocate my preference files so that Cubase would generate brand new ones. That worked, but setting everything up again is a real pain, so I would like to avoid doing that again. Deleting the preferences seems like the ‘nuclear’ option.
I have been using Cubase for about 5 years now. Just upgraded to 14 Pro. Both Cubase and WaveLab crash unexpectedly with a CPU overload/audio drop out error. CPU usage is around 35%. Running i9 intel chip, 10th gen, with 64 gigs of ram in Windows 11. New one for me. Lost two sessions before I started backing up my projects after every recorded track. Is this a known issue being worked on as well?
You might try turning on “constrain delay compensation” button and see if that helps. Worth a shot, your machine sounds spectacular! I have much less of a machine and don’t have any problems.
Bug Report! On the new maintenance release 14.0.20 I noticed a bug. When you place an inserts in the stereo out channel of the mixer, it does not show up in the mixer in the lower zone. And when you place an insert in the mixer in the lower zone it does not show up in the regular mixer. However, when you place an insert on any other channel it shows up in both mixer locations just like you would expect.
Midi channels need to be reset despite indicating visually correct midi channel in the display every time I ope an old template or create new one. Unusable for me sadly.
