Cubase 14 Drum Machine does not save samples

Drum Machine does not save samples in the Audio folder of the current project (As it happens when adding audio to the project). Also, DM does not have the ability to export samples as Groove Agent does. Samples can be easily lost, for example, when Back Up Project, or renaming a project folder, or removing an external disk. I would like to fix this problem.

Wow :open_mouth:

So much about Drum Machine, Drum Track and Patterns scream “beta release” that it’s not even funny anymore
But the potential is there, it just needs to be finished!

Yeah, this is major pants!
I created a kit just for the sake of saving it (not knowing it wasn’t possible smh) and realised I wasted 15-20 min selecting, editing sounds lol.
I feel like an idiot and cheated!

Drag the audio files to the project first and then on to the drum machine.

Cubase should do it by itself (put samples used in DM into the pool).

Oh, that’s very sad. This is a major flaw that needs to be fixed as soon as possible; otherwise, this tool turns out to be incomplete and unreliable.
I hope the developers read the forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

I doubt it will be fixed because the sampler track works the same way and that’s been around for a number of years.

It’s nice to see that I’m not the only one concerned about this issue. I also raised this topic. I really hope that this problem will be resolved.

“Drag the audio files to the project first and then on to the drum machine.”
I vote for Cubase to make this automatic. Also on the sampler track.

The Sampler Track actually saves your samples in the project folder because it creates a separate folder in the Pool, as shown in the screenshot.

Why they didn’t do the same for the Drum Machine is unclear :(, but I really hope they fix it quickly.

This is a solution, but it’s extremely inconvenient because it defeats the whole purpose of the Drum Machine and the hot-swap function.
In this case, I’d have to find a suitable kick using hot-swap, then drag it into the Pool, and only after that back into the Drum Machine.

I really hope they fix this.

Just making sure this topic stays relevant because I am still missing several samples for some really nice beats I made recently. We need a quick fix!

I just discovered this myself today, brought in some samples and then backed up the project, only to find the Drum Machine still points to the original samples, Talk about a major oversight, this is bad with one sample, in a Drum Machine its not unusual to have 10 samples or more easy, move the project and the original samples and you’ve got one major mess
This is in the unacceptable category,

I just discovered this too, this is unacceptable. There’s also another thing, namely the drum machine not deleting the mixer channels after you’ve unassigned individual pad outputs in the “group” tab. This is some “early access” type stuff, it boggles my mind they want people to pay a full price for this when bugs like this are present. Don’t even get me started on direct offline processing, lol.

Yes please address this long standing issue with Sampler track and now Drum machine tracks. For the sampler track, it seems like it’s random. Sometimes dropping an audio file into the sampler track saves the audio file in the sampler track pool folder, but most times it does not. This is a major headache and can break projects when backing them up as files will be missing.

The topic was created back in November of last year, and now it’s already the end of February, yet Steinberg still hasn’t fixed the issue with their new drum machine, namely:

  1. Samples do not appear in the Pool window (Ctrl + P) and, as a result, are not saved in the project. Even if you back up the project, the drum machine pads still reference the original sample locations.
  2. When routing each pad to a separate mixer channel and then deleting a pad, the channel remains and cannot be removed in any way except by completely deleting the main drum machine channel.

Steinberg, please pay attention to this issue. You announced your drum machine with great hype and enthusiasm, yet now you are neglecting its bugs.
