Cubase 14 launch triggers Activation Manager for expired Cubase 15 trial

Hi!

Steps:

1- Install, register and launch the full version of Cubase 14 (not the trial).

2- Install, register and launch Cubase 15 trial. Do not register the full version.

3- Uninstall Cubase 15 trial.

4- Wait for the trial period to be over.

5- Launch Cubase 14.

6- Cubase 14 is stuck at “Initializing: ARA Service scanning plugins…”

7- A Steinberg Activation Manager window opens saying “Your Trial Has Expired” for Cubase 15. See attached screenshot.

8- Close that window with the X at the top right corner to still launch Cubase 14 correctly.

Additional info:

  • This happens at every Cubase launch.
  • This is a regression. It wasn’t happening until a recent update to Steinberg Activation Manager (possibly around May/June).
  • I am on Windows 11.
