Cubase 14: New GUI update requests topic roll

Point 8 was literally every cubase up until 13. And it was much better.

Correct, but they had an additional floating bar when the main window was resized.

I posted about this issue back in June 2022 and… it looks like it is still there in 2024 :grinning: And it probably was present since ages. This is not a priority for the team, even though this is only a matter of adjusting some internal values for the assets to be properly centered.

Nevertheless this is some GUI basics and it needs to be fixed ASAP, as it prevents the user from reading the contents of the track header.

Fixing cropped text and icons should be a priority over other improvements!

You’ll get a lot of pushback from people here that still wants Cubase to look like it did in 2002, but I’m with you. Aesthetic is very important to creativity and feeling good about the software you are working on.

I get why people want the legacy look. Some don’t like change, which is fine. However it would’ve been nice to have an option to toggle. It might be difficult to implement know that there are quite lot of moving parts keeping audio performance at the highest priority.

Completely agree on all the points you listed, then the missing full screen function deserves a chapter to the part, I think Cubase is the only daw not to implement it.

I add, but nothing fundamental, the need to thoroughly review the instrument icons, currently they are really ugly, a modern design would be needed.

I can help but noticed how clean and sharp the GUY of some new products look and I think 2025 would be a good time to really make the change and bring Cubase to todays standars ,visually. SSL 360 is a good example of what can be done. leavy everything in place with in Cubase, we already have muscle memory, but make it look more like a new DAW , that would be very very nice.

I like to record a 12 bar blues, rhythm track, loop it, then jam over it and record my solos over 20 or 30 repeats of the the 12 bar rhythm track. Current method in Cubase is awkward and not intuitive… Ableton Lives" session view of clips repeating while able to record in the arranger view simultaneously would be a great enhancement.

Why are you writing this into a topic about graphical user interface elements?

yes please :+1:

ā€œ Resizeable elements in the main interface - they are so, so small on a 4K monitor. Even if it’s just the text, that would help.ā€
