Cubase 14 Pro up-to-date freeze at project export

Hello, I just tried exporting a project on Cubase Pro (latest update). I’ve been running the process a couple of times but Cubase still freezes. I kill the process and restart it. A message indicates that there was a problem but doesn’t give me the option to generate a log file.
Never faced that issue since I use Cubase.
Could someone please help?
Thanks in advance.

Any plugins give you issues while working on the project? What 3rd party plugins do you use?

Hello BobUpstairs,
Thanks for your reply. On this project, I’m mainly using plugins from Arturia, Tone2, Native, Spectrasonics, Roli, Spitfire, Soundpaint, UJAM, Excite Audio, UVI, Korg, Waves, and Steinberg, all on 64 tracks. The CPU load is at a quarter of what it can handle.
I started looking at reverbs and delays that were too long. I reduced them significantly. I tried exporting again, and with that, the export started, but stopped at 01:32. (on 5min.) This is good progress. I’ll see which plugins or effects start at that point
Do you have any advice that could help me get rid of this?
Thanks in advance

Just look for a plugin issue. If something starts at where the export fails, that might be it.
You could try rendering some tracks and see if the problem persists.
I’m not familiar with all the plugins you listed, but I’ve stayed away from anything that’s not ‘mainstream’ - especially free stuff (except from know good suppliers).

Hello Bob,
I performed a full rendering, but the export stalled. So I saved the project under a different name, deleted all the MIDI tracks, and the export went smoothly. This gives me time to investigate further. Thanks very much!
Rob

Well, that’s some progress…

Let me know what else you figure out…

Hi. I’ve had a project export freeze issue in Cubase 14 pro that was being caused by modulation being added on Retrologue. In my case I had 3 modulators added two LFOs and an Envelope Shaper. After deactivating the envelope shaper the export worked. But that was after trying deactivating all third party plugins and instruments, trying to render (wouldn’t let me) etc. So my advice is: Be careful with the modulators … at least with Retrologue. Hope this helps you.
P.S. I’ve also had to deactivate shaper modulation on Bad Phone to export another project. Looks like modulators are the culprits.

WOW! I never would have thought of that; I was focusing on third-party plugins and effects, in my case 4 Arturia plugins were getting modulators. But now that I remember, I only started introducing modulators very recently.
I just disabled all the modulators, and miraculously, the export went like a charm.
Thank you so much Paul!

FYI: I was able to reproduce the freeze. It is not the Envelope Follower per sé. It seems certain circumstances have to come together.

If you keep the Modulators panel open during export the sine waves go bonkers. Is that supposed to happen?

I guess what you see is the faster than real time export at work.

I encountered a similar problem in one of my projects. After rendering the track and disabling the LFO modulator, the freezing issue during exporting was resolved. Interestingly, my other projects work perfectly fine with modulators.

I truly appreciate your assistance! I spent roughly three hours disabling each plugin in my project without any success, but it turns out that disabling the modulator track was the key solution.
