I always wondered about that - thanks for the info.

My needs are simple - in the logical editors, add a variable field whereby in the execution of the preset, when the variable field is encountered, a dialogue opens up for input. For instance, I have several presets to randomise note positions and velocities, a simple “humanise” thing. An input dialog would reduce the number to just one.
Thank you for the use of your eyes.

Attacking others on this forum is a bit unnecessary.

Right. Just like I’ve been attacked repeatedly for having the temerity to point out Cubase’s deficiencies. And to provide examples from other DAWs regarding how to improve the situation (which Steinberg seems incapable of doing).

I would honestly just bail on Cubase if I didn’t have over 70 nearly completed songs in Cubase format. But I swear, switching to Logic or even Studio One is becoming more and more tempting every day.

So go ahead all you true believers. Tell me to switch. That is sure to improve Cubase. :man_facepalming:

Wishlist item: Audio Event Musical Mode Icon visibility.

Events with long file names, typical of Splice loops etc, have the Event Name hidden when you zoom out a little. In most situations there is PLENTY of space to still show the Musical Mode Icon, but it also gets hidden. It is important to see what has been set to Musical Mode without having to zoom in and out of the whole project or go through the Media Pool and try to decipher what should and should not be set to Musical Mode.

So, please keep the Musical Mode Icon visible even after a long file name is hidden (or truncate the long name might be better), until the Icon cannot fit in the Event by its own.

is there any info if cubase updates are 1.5 years now or back to 1 year updates circle ?
cubase 14 on Nov-Dec or somewhere around march 2025 ?

My feature wish:
A dedicated real time stretch algorithm in Musical Mode specialized for pure beats.

Situation:
The current algorithms i.m.o. work great but sometimes struggle with beat, tops, percussion loops. That’s because they all stretch or squeeze the audio in some way. Which is good for mixed material, instruments, vocals, etc.

Solution:
So there should be a specialized “beat” algorithm, that does not stretch the elements (kick, hihat, clap, etc.) in a beat. Instead it should use the transients (like slicing it) and adapt playback speed to the current bpm. Without stretching oder scrunching the audio after each transient.

That looks amazing. Ableton Live is also robust with its MIDI mapping/control options.

Same requests as always:

full size, pop out send faders. Or put them in the channel edit window.

Dual mono plug in routing.

Option for Q-link to default to on.

No Latency Direct Monitoring Like Studio One Blue Z With Any Audio Intrface

Just 5 things:

1 - On Cretate a New project, please show me a “screen log”:
Patch…
Project Tittle - SubTittle
Producer - Manger - Enginer
Date…
Client - artist…
Link - Contact…
Notes… another things
Its was a good idea in Studio One!

2 - Note Pad (text in project menu)
Please, more font, color, alingment options, rules, background color…

3 - Teleprompter plugin or scroll notepad text option…

4 - Add Folder tracks option to mixer window!
Its is so hard to see the mixer when are many tracks!

5 - Add RENAME plugin option l in Plugin mananger window.
Our plugin Will be better showed.

If I’m not mistaken, the blue “Z” in Studio One indicates hardware direct monitoring and does require the audio interface to support this feature.

A step sequencer utilized by the lower zone, making it easier to program drum tracks without having clunky windows open or the need to make a bunch of unnecessary steps. Logic and Studio One both have this, and it’s a game changer.

I just added the following feature request to a post regarding what features users would like to see added to a future Groove Agent 6. But the following feature would be even more welcome as an addition to Cubase’s “Hitpoint” beat slicing function and to the track sampler:

My request is to add a “slice extension” function to extend the “tails” of slices in a sliced loop. Do this by time stretching a user definable percentage of slice ends so that the each slice is extended beyond its normal length.

This way when sliced loops are slowed down there won’t be audible gaps between slices. This would be similar to what the old Propellerheads ReCycle program does. Only ReCycle uses an archaic (and terrible sounding) technique whereby each slice tail is reversed and then crossfaded back into the slice before being faded out to achieve a long tail. This technique really only works for drum loops with clearly defined transients/hits. It sounds awful on things like guitar loops.

So my feature request is to basically build a better mousetrap. Include a slice extension function (on perhaps an optional per-slice basis) that will allow loops to be slowed down significantly from their original tempo without smearing the attack transients as almost all time stretch algorithms do, even industry leading modern ones like Elastique Pro from z-plane (which is used in Cubase).

The nice thing about slicing loops as opposed to merely time stretching them is the ability to more creatively process individual slices within a loop, quantize individual slices differently, and to rearrange the slices in a loop. None of these are possible by simply time stretching the entire loop.

First thing that comes to mind: make it more stable and reliably!
Second thing for me would be a channel EQ with some advanced funcions (maybe sth more like frequency2) which is bigger than a credit card - preferably resizable!

While I agree that stability and reliability are always good things, ever since I moved back to a Mac (and especially modern Apple Silicon Macs,) Cubase has been quite stable for me. It also probably helps that I stopped using a crash-prone RME PCIe audio interface and the company’s vaunted “low latency” drivers. (Yeah, right.)

In fact, the only time Cubase ever crashes on me now is when I am using a crappy freeware plugin. (Of course, not that all freeware plugins are “crappy.”) Most modern plugins from reliable software developers are relatively well-tested and don’t bring down Cubase, at least in my experience.

But the one built-in feature I wouldn’t mind is a best-in-class channel strip that includes absolutely top notch EQs and compressors. That way I wouldn’t have to bother with instantiating various FabFilter and Universal Audio plugins on my tracks.

Batch export option for solo states, so for instance if audio and midi are in the same folder and with different sends theses folders (or tracks) could be exported as per what you hear not per audio routing.

That’s how it was for me until CB 11, too. After that it unfortunately changed to a very unpredictable DAW…
I personally never had problems with CB and a PC/Windows!

Option to have split points in insert effect chain inside a track for better routing, for example if I have both reverb and delay plugins I don’t want the delay to also process reverb or reverb to process delay, even better the option to add effect insert to the right or left channel independently.

Some drum vst when used with multiple out provide mono channels inside Cubase, when adding insert effect they are automatically converted to mono! Would like to have the option to convert to stereo just like the audio track conver to stereo option added recently.
