I also use all the vintage Ohmforce plugins with the great user interfaces. Those are the only VST2 plugins I still use. Someday I’ll have to cut loose, but for now I deal with the problems (such as you are having). Your best bet is to take the track with the ohmforce plugin and render in place. Then delete the original track. Hopefully you can do that without crashing. But once it is out of the picture things should be more stable.
If you like funky skins you might want to take a look at plugins by Freakshow Industries. Kinda cool stuff. And they are vst3.
Everytime i get a dmp file i send it on to steinberg. I think at this point i will certainly be opening up a problem ticket because i cant work like this.
Yes i disabled preferences.
I keep seeing this timer call back error when a DMP is analysed. I have no idea what plugin is causing this if indeed its a plugin and like i said the least time it crashed this way i was using stock Cubase plugins.
*quick google search on Timer callback error…
The “error timer callback” in Cubase 15 is a generic issue, often related to timing problems, MIDI clock synchronization, or problematic third-party plugins that cause the software to hang or crash. The error message itself is a low-level application message indicating a timing function failed or was unexpectedly interrupted.
Jeez! i have loads of libraries and plugins this could be impossible to trace the source.
We can only see the last few things the task did before it crashed. All the listed steps are happening within stuff from your operating system.
The google search did not return a good result. It has nothing to do with Cubase midi timing. It could be a driver issue, but it could have other causes. Hard to tell.
Ive just uninstalled and re-installed and updated the studio (not the gaming one) NVIDIA driver. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Asio4all. I uninstalled my old focusrite interface software just incase somewhere in the chain it may be causing a problem.
I have my new PC but it needs setting up and everything installing.
Maybe i will just get on with it and get it running and finally put this old girl to rest.
Cant wait for the installation process of all of my shhheeet lol.
There is a thread from August 2025 where the same problem with ntdll.dll occured in combination with Kontakt 8, maybe there is a solution in it for you.
ntdll.dll is the interface between usermode applications (like Cubase) and the system kernel. If an app needs system services it calls ntdll, so every usermode app in a given system is calling ntdll all the time.
A dump showing ntdll in the failure bucket just means that a usermode app called ntdll and passed a bad argument or address (in this case causing an attempt to execute an invalid instruction). It would be up to the developer or debugger to determine what the calling application was doing at that moment and why the data passed to ntdll was invalid.
It is extremely rare for ntdll.dll to be the actual failing module unless there has been some system corruption, but then you’ll get usermode apps failing all over the place when they try to call (a corrupt) ntdll.
There’s alot to unpack here.. I was trying to read through the whole thread.. is that mac or pc? If mac im not going to be much help.. if PC its definitely a problem with your OS and cubase.. you try programs like latecymon to see what .dll is causing the problem before I go down the rabbit hole which OS? Could be different version of the same plugin installed or non license plugin hanging
This might be part of the issue. If you have their “advanced” driver package there’s a history of them conflicting with audio/DAW. They make a basic driver package that typically fixes the issues their bloated drivers/software cause
Yeah I heard the stories. I fully removed everything NVIDIA and reinstalled only the studio driver but sadly the issue remained.
I think its just my PC needs retiring. I’ve noticed on simple things it takes a moment to do something say open up an application from the desktop sometimes I will have to click again or again lol.
Even when I download something from my browser the file will be in my download folder but an hour later or whenever it randomly happens the notification will pop up saying “downloaded” .
Everything just feels slightly sluggish like just off but then somedays its working flawlessly.
When I check my PC im in the blue on all my drives so its not like im running on fumes.
I think since Microsoft no longer bother with Win 10 everything is suffering.
This probably wont fix your issues, but i’m just wondering whether or not if you have tried running the Windows system file checker to scan and repair any missing or corrupted system files ? It’s worth a try.
Right click the command prompt and run as administrator. Run the following commands in order:
Glad you have your new pc ready to run! Nevertheless, regarding the old one, I too run an i7 8700k still, with a pci interface, running Nuendo 14 flawlessly doing pro work, orchestral and other. So don’t dismiss the old girl so quickly, the problem may be other than age
