I understand that Cubase 15 gives the option to audition the expression map settings by clicking on them in the inspector. I can’t seem to get them to make a sound though. Does this option need to be activated somewhere? (I’m using Eric Whitacre choir VST, as per screen shot)
The first version of Cubase 15 has a few bugs.
We’ll have to wait for the next update.
It works for me today too.
This may be random because it stopped working two days ago.
Hi, yes the articulation will sound if you click on it in the key editor, but a new feature of 15 is being able to preview the sounds of each articulation by clicking on them in the inspector. There are several videos showing this feature (in particular one by Guy Michelmore shows exactly how it is meant to work (at 15 min 30 secs mark)).
As I said in my reply to Buer, there are videos already published showing this feature working, so I don’t think there is a bug as such, it feels more like I need to click something somewhere to make it work!
The slots in the inspector don’t preview sounds (as in, they don’t send out a preview midi note), but they do send out the specific key switch or program change to your instrument in order to make it change to the articulation.
You can then use a midi keyboard to play notes sounding with that articulation, or use your virtual instrument’s UI.
Hi Stefan, yes … I’ve got it now. The videos I watched made it look as though they sent out a preview midi note, but in fact the click on the inspector was just a selection action and a midi keyboard was being pressed “off screen” to actually sound the articulation. Thanks for your comment above.
