13 to 14 felt real, like actually getting a new toy. 15 has some intriguing features but for the most part they look and feel like they should just be updates that paying members get for free.
This whole ‘one a year’ thing would be better tamed if they focused on it more so this way as updates not a nee product.
I of course do not get the free cross grade and do see that some of the things I was asking about (samplerwise) in this forum have been developed, and that there are some descent additions to groove agent.
Adding sample packs shouldn’t qualify as a new version or the majority of ‘what’s nee’.
Does 15 still allow vst2?
The new vocal thing being beta is kind of creepy too, given that it’s developing tech that will put many people out of jobs, getting people to pay to beta it … that’s $mart.
What are peoples thoughts on this mild update in version clothing?
Very thin release even if it would have been called 14.5. Remove all the updates for the plugins and there is not much left. Removing all unnecessary plugins would have been an improvement doing cubase more lightweight. Totally waste of resources, do the stuff that other can not do instead.
I personally feel that this new version is a little weak. I’m only going on what’s been presented online so far but… I’m not sure they have my money yet.
I actually think there’s a lot that’s a great upgrade for me, including the new expression mapping, the last touch automation deal, full screen on MacOS, pan and volume in the track headers (yesss! finally!!!), and more. 100 bucks is more than I’d like to spend, but some of these are significant improvements for me and will speed up my workflow in a pretty big way.
They have been saying that VST2 would be deprecated for what, 10 years now? All the supported Steinberg VSTs are VST3, so SB isn’t even involved if support is needed for a VST2 plugin. Wasn’t this the same in Cubase 14?
