Cubase 15 launches but shows no UI; it only appears active in Task Manager

Hi, this Ethan. Just have some issue and want to see if there are some people meet same issue. I just purchsed it from steinberg website, windows 11 pro system

Cubse 15 fails to launch properly:

  • Double-clicking the application shows no startup screen or any interface

  • No error messages appear

  • Only a Cubase process is visible running in Task Manager

I dont know how to fix to, right now just feed back to German tech team and want to see the solutions. Is there anyone else meet same issue?

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Reinstalled Cubase 15 Pro

  2. Reinstalled Cubase via Steinberg Assistant

  3. Restarted my computer multiple times

  4. Adjusted display settings and reset GPU rendering

  5. Attempted to launch Cubase in Safe Mode, which still did not work

If somebody can help me to solve it I will be much appreciated .

The standard question / suggestion first: Have you tried switching off your computer, wait for 15 seconds, and then switch it back on again?

Did this work before?

Did you decrease your amount of screens recetly?

(meaning: is it possible to have Cubase “visible”, but off-screen?)

BAd luck! Have you tried a re-install of Cubase? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxFfeMOjECY

Hi Johnny, Thanks for your kind suggestions,

Hi Zero, Yes, I have tried it for many times, now still unworking.

Yep, I tried this, but still unworking.

I meant this “vice versa”: maybe Cubase is displayed on your second or third screen (window position), which is not there anymore (in case you reduced your count of screen monitors)?!

Actually, I only have one screen, no any other screen connected.

This is Odd. When Cubase de-installs it can leave stuff behind (in other circumstances a good thing), not only in the Program Files but elsewhere. I would be looking to wipe clean, power down, unplug, then do a complete re-install - which is a pain in the bxyz.
If you do this, make sure you get Steinberg guidance. I would phone them, there help hours are short and in the mornings.

If you have any crash dumps (Windows (Crash Dumps): C:\Users<Username>\Documents\Steinberg\crashdumps you could post here.

This is getting beyond my pay grade. But there are experts here

It’s unusual to not at least get to the Hub.

Post your specs here too.

… unless the last ASIO driver selected in the Hub at the top is related to the issue?

Or is that not yet processed, when the hub is about to be displayed?

I’ve not seen this as an issue. Cubase will load without an Asio Driver selected.

Did you use any sort of debloater/customizer for your Windows installation? Those often uninstall dependencies that other apps need.

Another possibility is your GPU driver.

Most other issues, Cubase is able to catch and report on, or you at least see it hanging at a specific step during initialization.

Hello Ethan,

maybe you are running into an issue I saw on my work laptop with one specific application.
From time to time one specific application started, and no GUI was shown.
I was able to see with ALT + TAB that the application window is open.
But when choosing that application it did not show on the screen.

In the end that application windows seem to be opened outside the visible screen.
And so it cannot be moved to the visible screen manually.
It also did not help to choose to open the application maximized.

The only thing that helped was to open the task manager, choose the actual process (Cubase Pro) , right click, and choose Maximize.
Then the window of that process will be “moved” to the visible screen.

Hi,

Thank you for your kind suggestions and your experience,

However, It could not even see the cubase at the bottom of the screen.

and I have tired according your sharing, but still unworking,

Hi Pete,

Thank you for your sharing.

However, I didn’t installed any deloater or customizer for my windosws installation, I only use few applications and with another needs on it.

It wasn’t show the report requests or anything else, when I launch it ,even the bottom of the screen could not see the cubase on it, please refer the picture. You could see it active in task manager. And if I lanuch it again, there is another Cubase will add up into task manager.
