And listing hundreds of wishes, hoping that Steinberg fixes them all in the next Cubase, isn’t?
I’m not sure how to get a poll set up but I can definitely look into it.
List and vote are not identical concepts.
I vote to keep list
Bring back Cubase 13 Score Editor
I have been working with song writers using Cubase Score Editor as a sort of Real Book.
Jazz-y (handwritten) looking score functions are completely gone at this point…
Very sad…
FYI you all, CLAP plugin will probably be never supported since Steinberg got a lot of money for licensing VST3
Better smpte time code implementation. Similar to mixbus/ardour.
-
Hybrid tracks where MIDI and Audio can reside on the same track.
-
“Audio / Bounce Selection” to be updated with new dialog box options:
-
- Replace Events? Yes/No
-
- Onto New Track? Yes/No
-
- Mute Original Events? Yes/No
-
- Ok or Cancel (ability to cancel the procedure)
- The “Key Editor, Sample Editor and Audio Part Editor” should have a “Channel Strip” window layout setting to allow the user to adjust the volume of VST instruments and Audio Events while working inside of the full screen mode of these editors.
What is missing in the current implementation?
Cubase/Nuendo only generate smpte/LTC. I would like to be able to input an LTC signal into a “timecode track” similar to or the same way that Mixbus/Ardour does it.
Still curious of what you actually want to accomplish. (I have no experience with either Mixbus nor Ardour.) MTC doesn’t work in your case?
I’m pretty sure Nuendo can sync to LTC, no? Might need a Syncstation, I can’t remember.
Hi @evanh75,
as a workaround, you could download and install the “Finale Jazz” and “Finale Jazz Text” fonts:
…and then change to them within the Cubase 14 Score Editor:
[Cubase (Pro) 14]
- select MIDI file
- Main Menu [6]: “Open Score Editor”
- Main Menu in Score Editor [3]: “Score” → “Score Settings” → “Fonts”
Best wishes,
Markus

When using the second or later channels of a multi-timbral sound source in a midi track, for some reason, all panel setting windows are connected to the first channel.
Because this list has grown quite long, I might have missed the following. My apologies any duplicate requests.
- Implement a new “Arpache Pro” advanced arpeggiator MIDI plugin taking its inspiration from the outstanding arpeggiator in Spectrasonics’ Omnisphere virtual instrument. (I’m really surprised no one else has requested an improved arpeggiator in Cubase.)
- Add the option to time stretch individual Sampler Track loop slices so that when slowing down a loop there are no audible gaps between slices (and when playing back individual loop slices from the keyboard, the hits are more musical-sounding and don’t cut off abruptly).
- Do not duplicate the VST instrument itself when duplicating an Instrument Track. Get rid of legacy Rack Instruments once this much needed improvement to instrument Tracks has been implemented.
MTC requires another interface. I use Cubase in a broadcast scenario where another piece of equipment sends out LTC. If I use Mixbus I can patch the LTC signal into an audio input and setup the program to read that and stay in complete sync with the broadcast. Clocks drift and we do 2hr broadcasts. When a remix is needed it easier to just have the audio & video files re-sync themselves via the embedded timecode when dealing with longer timelines.
But sure, I’ll buy one more box to do something that someone else already does as a stock feature.
Thanks for the explanation.
It sounds like a feature request that warrants its own thread. I would post in the Nuendo forum and tag it with the feature-request tag if you haven’t already. There’s a pretty big chance it gets buried and unseen in a big thread like this.
Also start saving for 100 more dollars.
Anyways, will there ever be any improvement in mouse handling in Piano Roll? I see numerous requests for the same over a long period of time, yet their is no positive lead in that direction. Whoever thought that double clicking to draw or erase a note in Piano Roll should not be designing UX for softwares. It is dumb. It sounds bitter but that’s how it is. And yes, there is a pencil to draw but it is totally unnecessary, if you fix the select button. I am wasting more time in dealing with the tools than dealing with the actual notes.
I honestly don’t think the Cubase developers are using Cubase as their primary DAW. These nuances wouldn’t have gone unnoticed, if they were. Amd I can’t justify paying the amount money for the upgrades. We are getting peanuts for the price of Pine nuts.
I also own FL Studio and Ableton. Ableton is already got most things right and balanced and now they are focusing on innovating. They release updates over 2-4 years and they are worth the price.
Now for, FL Studio, there Image-Line guys are insane. They don’t charge any money. I love their forum. The developers and support all participate in discussions and decide on features and changes. Their changes are quick. It has happened on multiple occasions, that I have requested a feature and it was released the next week. It have even happened in this month. There was piano roll thing related to patterns, which was annoying for people who uses smaller length pattern, so me along with a couple of users complained about it and it was implemented within a weak and a small update was pushed for the same with some other minor things. This is how should be things, especially when you are charging a lot of money. I have purchased quite a few things like FL Studio mobile, which I don’t really use, but just to support them. When you care more about the product and less about the money, it reduces the friction and reluctance of the people to pay money.
Exactly, opposite occurs at here. A lot of people were left hurt, while that Cubase 13 sale leaving hell a lot of people feeling cheated. A lot of people don’t realise how expensive Cubase is as compared to other DAWs. Ableton don’t release paid updates as often as Cubase. For FL, you can buy a FL Studio Producer edition every two years with the money you spend on the upgrades.
Steinberg should realise that their Pro Tools style attitude won’t help them. Pro Tools is still relevant because of the ‘Industry Standard’ tag. Because of which they can get away with anything, without getting hurt financially. By virtue of functions, they don’t deserve the place they are at, when better DAWs exists out there. They are in a position that is hard to replace. But Cubase is easily replaceable. Studio one and Reaper can easily take over Cubase and they are cheap too. It just that Cubase exists since long time so have more exposure to the market and I think Steinberge is realising it lately. Ditching the dongle and e-licencer was a step in this regard.
I just hope Steinberge realise that happy existing customers brings more sales than any marketing. Go to any DAW related forums and see how passionately people try to pursue others to use their favorite DAW. DAW wars are real. So focusing on keeping the existing customers happy as much as acquiring new is the key.
Anyways, the implementation of Ableton style modulators and FL style patters/sequencer was indeed a great move, though they aren’t that useful yet, especially the drum editor brings more pain than relief but it is a good positive step, so welcomed. Bring more such things. Don’t rush for updates. We can wait for April-May, rather than paying for half baked stuff in November. Make it worth the money before releasing it. Peace…
Wow!!! Thank you so much!!! That looks great!!!
