I am very happy to have an indication of stereo/mono in the mixer, so first, thanks for the improvement. But…the rendered sample screenshot would be a way better way to do it.
(…will we ever get a toggle button to actually change between stereo/mono without having to build a new track?..)

I’m not sure how that would work, or why it would be useful. You can’t make a stereo track from a mono source, without altering one side and panning. You can always combine two tracks to become a mono signal.
Maybe I am just not understanding your need for something like that.
Yes, that would be nice, like on Logic or on Studio One…
I think Cubase could be more versatile on work with stereo and mono tracks.
On Protools it’s a very simple and instantaneous way to transform a stereo track on a mono…
And I hope to have this on v7… too
…
that is what i meant … oh poo …
i have no idea why this is happening to you …
however … try this
1…on starting windows go to the explorer and open the folder where cubase resides then find the exe. icon and right click it …
it will show “previous versions” … click this .
revert back to cubase 7.0
if you have not done so already then download the setup data from my steinberg …( i thibk they call it “core data” )
4 .cold start windows afterwards ( do not open cubase yet)
install the update 7.3
again reboot (cold … and not restart … turn off your pc )
6… open your cubase…
i hope this works for you i stumbled across this after i had Gui probs after the last update… it worked great … since then i have had no probs what so ever with my cubase and am working like a madman ever since …
if you don’t quite follow me then PM me and we can find a way to walk you through it like a chat forum or skype or something
I want to add a correction to the quoted post of mine regarding the crashing. Now I’m suffering crashes all the time, even with Cubase not on! I’ve spent this whole day to localize the problem, updated everything, tried every BIOS setup etc, nothing works.
I suspect either a broken memory chip or video card.
Sorry for blaming Cubase so hasty, but I did test with 7.0.2 about an hour without problems so I was sure my crashings were caused by 7.0.3. The crashings seem to be random, my system can stay on for hours or go down in minutes.
Too bad it’s zealots party going on, can’t get new hardware until tuesday.
No, this seems like it could be a file system / permissions / dunno issue with your particular setup.
How can this be the case if it works with 7.0.2 ? Nothing else has changed apart from the version of cubase I’m using. I have no problems with permissions with any other program I use and I use a lot of software.
The mono/stereo writing doesn’t bother me, for me it’s fine the way it is. I’ve been working with this 7.0.3 update these days, and I’m pretty happy with it, it’s stable, that’s the most important feature for me.
I love the mixer in C7 and the grouping functions are well implemented. Congrats to Steinberg.
Mixconsole could benefit from little workflow/UI improvements though, like taking away the gradients from the labels on the sends and inserts to make them more readible; clicking on the send should show the send plugin,
ctrl+click on the send should select the FX channel like in C6; and letting us coloring the background of the track list and of the channel in the mixer like in the project window. But we’re close, it’s already way better than what it was in C6.
I now wish Steinberg implements something like ableton live’s macros to control multiple plugin parameters under one knob and improves the freezing/ bouncing functions.
so wasting precious space in a mixer gui, that is already packed with bad designed space wasting new features that simply don´t fit even on huge monitors, is fine for you?
it´s easy to see how especially this section could be improved EASILY - let´s vote for it!!!
