I think something should be done about the rather cheesy looking texture behind the mixer tracks.
I only really noticed it the other day but it reminds me of Steven Slate Drum 4.0 tacky brush metal texture.
I don’t have problems with most of C7, I think the ideas behind Mixconsole are great, but, and while it seems silly, I’m staying with 6.5 until I can turn off this horrendous brushed texture. It totally distracts me …
That’s one Steiny probably can’t win, whatever they do there someone will most likely not like it.
I personally don’t care what the blank space looks like, mind you, naked ladies would be nice .
It looks better since it’s release.
I still think that it looks and feels totally detached from Cubase itself though.
It’s a slightly different color for a start.
One thing the mixer absolutely needs is an overview of the tracks. I can’t believe it’s not there, I never have a goot point of reference as to where I am in a song or where i’m shuttling to and from.
Can’t find the “thumbms up” button, but this is spot on! Within 1/2 a second of opening the 7.03 mixer I HATED seeing “stereo stereo stereo stereo mono mono stereo” across the bottom - it’s CRAZY to give up a full 50% of the available labelling space just to tell you whether a track is mono or stereo.
This may be the worst piece of overly-hasty design implementation I’ve ever seen.
So here’s a snapshot of the new mixer, and all I can see when I glance at the channel names is ‘stereo stereo mono mono stereo mono stereo stereo’.
It’s a truly horrible piece of design and I sincerely hope you implement the single/double ‘o’ icon suggested earlier in this thread - on the same vertical plane as the channel number, NOT hogging space (and distracting the eye) in the colour bars.
I’ll add my voice to this, installed the 03 update last evening, and I concur, the labeling is distracting and really IMHO unnecessary. The single/double O idea is a good one.
I have had a “bipolar disorder” experience with the new mixer in C7
First I hated it - then I loved it - currently I hate it!
It seems to evoke extreme reactions. It’s quite an extreme GUI and an extreme departure from the mixer in C6.5
I really like the new functionality, but I would of liked that added to the old mixer.
Currently with so many “bipolar” users on all the audio forums, SB are slightly panicing and have started updating the mixer by “public committee” as opposed to well thought out design.
The use of the words stereo/mono on the mixer scribble strip as opposed to the common accepted use of stereo and mono symbols does strike me as … daft.
I’m refurbishing my room this year and SB currently seem bent on making me have a wobble about being a Cubase user!
Hopefully SB will gather themselves together and get back to sensible thought out design in 7.04 - 6.5 is brilliant so they have it on them without doubt.
Doubtful. I think we’re pretty much locked in, apart from bug fixes and small tweaks. Until Cubase 8 or beyond.
Yes, I realise the new mixer is here to stay, but things like stereo and mono written in the scribble strip instead of established symbols is beneath the standing of the program.
The functionality of things like Mixer Zones and Quick Link etc are excellent, but the loss of visual feedback about various mixer configuration states is baffling, and like many have stated here, I have started wearing my mouse out!
