Ah OK. Thanks for the confirmation that its not something I’m doing wrong. I now see some other posts saying that this problem exists with Cubase 64 bit but I’m having the problem with a Cubase 32 bit instance.
I had this problem when I was inserting the dongle in a usb 3.0 port but it disappeared when I moved to usb 2.0 port. Just thought I would mention if it was same issue by chance.
That may be anecdotal, but I think I will move my Cubase dongle to be directly plugged into the machine instead of on a hub. I’ll see if that makes the random hangs go away (not just on quit, in mid-project too).
Please look at this image. On the right my Cubase 7.02 color scheme. On the left, 7.04 with the same god damn preference. The “basic color” option when select white makes everything look brown.
Is it really so hard to be consistent? If you dont care about colors fine. some people like myself, find it rather important to be comfortable with something im looking at for more then over 12 hours EVERYDAY of my life.
I feel your pain! I had a problem with the basic color. When I installed 7.04 The multiband compressor and several other Steinberg graph plugins went to all grey instead of multi colored.
Took me hours trying to figure out why. As you see the response from tech support states this was a change for 7.04… No idea why???
"I think the issue is that in 7.0.4 they are having the color in the Multiband
follow generally the basic color. If you look closely at the screen shot,
you’ll see the 4 bars are slightly different in color. If you pick a more
vibrant color (like all the way yellow), you should see more distinction in the
Multiband, correct? Thank you.:
Just an update on my probs here. I uninstalled all versions and reinstalled the core 7 exe. Then updated to 7.04 and everything runs super smooth. No graphic problems and far less CPU spikes. Plus I can run at much lower latency. Great update thanks to the steinberg team.
IMHO, Steinberg just has some esthetics issues to work out. Mostly colors (i.e. adding the ability to change more aspects of the user interface). For instance, the timeline in the list editor is almost unreadable. (Dark grey on black is not a good color combination)
The basic “guts” are working great for me. If they give the user the ability to change the user interface to their liking, IMHO they’d get rid of a -LOT- of complaints.
7.0.4 is -not- unuseable for me. It’s just a little difficult to see some things that I feel are important.
To the Steinberg team: Keep Rocking! You’re almost there!
master fader gets cut off? Sometimes mine dissappears completely, but overall way better than what was happening in 7.03 (where you couldnt get it to appear at all without lots of manipulation).
It would be nice to load or copy mixer settings without coping the mixer grouping info. If I load a vmx file where the saved track was in a group, the pasted (or loaded) track will magically be part of some other group, requiring that group to be dissolved and then re-created, nothing new but the mixer groups really need to be addressed, making it possible to add/remove members of a group.
( some oldies may remember that I gathered THE LIST with 100+ missing/abandoned features,
when SX1 was released
No energy and need to go there, once more ! )
I just tried again, to find ways to work efficiently and fast in C7
… and failed again.
I think the new concept, of “one row for everything”, is the main limiting factor.
( Besides the concept of a ‘clean’ view, hiding needed info.
( Which is already a big problem with automation since C6 ) )
Sadly, I have no idea, how to enhance this concept, to be as informative as the old one.
And I’m pretty sure, it’s there to stay …
I think it is safe to assume that most users would’ve been perfectly happy with an enhanced C6 mixer rather than a completely revamped one. But the bigger issue I see with Steinberg is how easy it seems for them to discard existing features without care of the impact it could cause to their user base. This is something that disturbs me a bit, especially when I think about how many of those features have been removed and then brought back to live since I’ve joined (around midlife of C6’s cycle). Otherwise, C7 wouldn’t be as problematic as most of us find it to be. Whoever is making these decisions needs an advisor, pronto!!
Anyway, it’s too late and I don’t know what I’m saying. BTW, great list guys!
