Anything created by a Machine can only talk to a Machine
But thatâs what the meme implies with my caption - that AI creates the music. So a response by you should have been âthatâs not how it will be usedâ, not âthere are good things with it alsoâ (where âitâ = âAI creates the musicâ).
Neither true nor thought provoking I think.
You speak a language that i donât understand . we have different opinions about Music and its relation to Technology .
OK, so, for the sake of this argument, what do you hope to see Cubase doing with AI?
Can you list the functions you hope to see?
I have listed a few at the beginning of this thread , we are all here to add suggestions it is not just me you should be also concerned or do you think that if we say our opinion or not Steinberg will stay out of this AI frenzy , if they do they will also stay behind , people are so naive that they do believe that if Cubase doesnât then they are safe but again it is already happening they act as if they donât know it , they are afraid of AI replacing them , one can already have AI Generated music without Cubase
isnât it it?
I am curious as of your train of thought on this matter.
Perhaps I can comprehend your point of view if you would list the functions you would like to see Cubase bring to the next few versions. There is no point going on rounds here if I cannot understand what you are hoping to get out of this on Cubase.
Sorry, this is quite a huge thread now, could you list them again please?
AI features in Cubase ?
-A mixing and mastering engineer built in Cubase?
-A music theory advisor?
-A technical assistant?
What are yours?..
I see nothing wrong with these suggestionsâŚ
Izotope are having AI mixing and mastering toolsâŚhmmm, will Cubase ever invest for something like that to give away in the program? I suppose they have given us some awesome plugins over the years, that rival 3rd party pluginsâŚ
As you mentioned, a technical assistant,
I would love to see an automatic problem detector for individual systems so that when there are unexplained pops and crackles the program will detect them, fix them or suggest actions to eliminate the problem.
Also, someone else mentioned an automated system to show/create every function upon written request, as a prompt, I suppose.
All nice things , AI as any other tool can be used in a bad or good way .
Oh yeah , for sure.
It would be nice to hear from other people suggestions instead of voices of fear and agony
Well, it has been used nefariously already, canât blame people for feeling nervous, I know I amâŚ
But I agree , I think for the sake of cooling things down, perhaps letâs be positive and make some constructive suggestions.
I also donât like the machine to create the music but i would like to take advantage of its potential ,
letâs, hope that other people will also give their suggestions as the saying goes :
âWe are all in this togetherâ
Look man, I get it, but I am sure you can see why such a suggestion puts peopleâs back up.
People , like my self tbh, feel threatened from such a technology. Itâs easy to say, âhey guys, donât be so reactiveâ, but people canât help it. I think itâs a human instinct to protect what puts food on the table. Anyway, please, lets not go in circles again
If I may add somethingâŚ
Iâd see AI very promising in editing:
- detecting hitpoints of drum performances automatically and ignoring those not needed (e.g. when you are having recorded toms, the waveform of the snare bleeds are often as big if not bigger than the toms)
- editing out of time recordings to make them more on the grid (this does work more or less for drums, but not for non percussive instruments)
- setting the position of the crossfades in performances automatically, so they sound as clean as possible, without any clicks/pops/etc
- getting rid of silence in events, without cutting away needed stuff
- Adding realism to midi drums (or any other instrument), by changing the timing/velocities of the notes automatically
- Tuning vocals, and finding the right spot automatically where it still sounds natural
- Improved track alignment. There is this function already, but most of the time doing it by hand is just more accurate and sounds better
- Noise reduction
- Restoration work
- and so on
In the end, everything where I still have to go in to edit stuff manually, and lose a lot of time.
So, that I can start with the creative process, instead to have to fix techincal stuff first.
Great list, talking about thousands of hours being savedâŚ
I can add these:
AI logical editor
AI Arpeggiator such as on the Roland Jupiter X
AhâŚnever managed to tread into the realm of the logical editorâŚ
itâs too logical thatâs why.
